Footage of the sporadic outbreaks of violence at the Coventry v Derby game that followed attempts to eject and remove banners from people protesting against club owners SISU (reason later given was that the banners were a "fire hazard"). The fan targeted by the police (for no obvious reason it seems) has since been issued a 3 year banning order. The real antagonists I'd suggest were the stewards, and the police only intervened when things had started to get heated. I'll leave it up to you to make your mind up about what followed. This is Sky TV footage which has also been reproduced by the Coventry Telegraph. Not attempting to glorify anything by posting this - merely trying to make people aware of the incident and also the overall plight of our football club.

A definitive collection of images of Coventry's famous shopping precinct. In addition to my own postcard scans and photos I have been privileged to have been given consent to use a number of other people's pictures in this production. Many thanks to "Allhails" (AH) who gave me permission to use the stunning pictures he took as a schoolboy of the Precinct. Precinct Coventry

A friend was filming around Far Gosford Street / Gosford Green in the early evening just after the Sky Blues lifted the FA Cup. He was filming to record scenes of the area before the building of 'Sky Blue Way' and not to capture the celebrating fans. It's a fascinating slice of history that captures some of the jubilation in the city on that historic day.

In hindsight, a victory for Coventry would have had no significance after Bristol City's victory over Barnsley sealed the Sky Blue's fate. Full coverage of the match between Coventry City and Birmingham City. The first half was relatively quiet, but the game exploded into life. On 70 minutes after good down the right, the ball came over to Gary McShefferey to head a looping header into the far corner of the net. Only 90 seconds later did the ball come up the other end, and after a Peter Ramage long throw that was misjudged by the Coventry centre back for Marlon King to smartly semi-bicycle kick into the back of the net. The traditional Christmas carol "Coventry Carol" sung by the choir of Westminster Cathedral. The "Coventry Carol" is a Christmas carol dating from the 16th Century. The carol was performed in Coventry as part of a mystery play called The Pageant of the Shearmen and Tailors. The play depicts the Christmas story from chapter two in the Gospel of Matthew. The carol refers to the Massacre of the Innocents, in which Herod orders all male infants under the age of two in Bethlehem to be killed. The lyrics of this haunting carol represent a mother's lament for her doomed child. It is the only carol that has survived from this play. Wikipedia.

The Chamber Singers and Shaw's Festival Singers were, (at the time when Robert Shaw was alive), arguably the best adult choirs in the world. The blend, along with the overall musicianship, was absolutely incredible: the Bass section was the true foundation of the Singers, with the rest of the sections Tuning to them; the Sopranos would resort to singing Vowels Only during high notes, (they would drop the beginning consonants of the words, thereby achieving uniform-shaped vowels with the rest of the Choir), letting the lower sections carry the whole words; the Altos and Tenors never "over-sang" their parts.
