Filmed by a news helicopter that was in the area and handed over to the local Police and Investigation Team, this is probably the best footage of an incident like this I have seen.

A Boeing 767 from Newark, New Jersey, carrying 230 passengers made an emergency landing in Warsaw after its landing gear failed to open. Leszek Chorzewski, the spokesman for LOT, the Polish airline that operated the flight, said none of the passengers was injured. The plane landed on its belly without its wheels. This was filmed by a Surrey Ambulance Service Crew whilst attending an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport in August 1991. The aircraft belonged to the now defunct Dan Air London (Now part of BA). We were not supposed to land here at all, but with the monsoon season coming, the winds are unpredictable (of course, we were told this after). As we were descending, we were told that the other hot air balloon had a rough landing and we looked over to see it had crashed beside the road, into the fence of a house. They told us to hold on and "brace ourselves" for a bad landing too- we ended up in a field where we JUST missed some trees and crashed into a fence, then 3 more times into field dividers as the balloon kept on going before it stopped. You can't really tell at the end but as I'm taking the video, Tee and I are hanging vertically from the basket. Listen to the commentary too ("put the video away, we're going to hit the trees," "this is NOT a joke, this is not funny"...) At the end, the hot air balloon company took my video and copied it and we got free t-shirts for all the shanagans lol.

The undercarriage of the aircraft from Leeds Bradford airport collapsed and the aircraft skidded off the runway. The 12 passengers and two crew members were unhurt in the accident, just before 18:00 GMT. The airport was closed for 50 minutes. The Air Accident Investigation Branch is looking into the cause. August 5, 1989 I had an engine failure in my Cessna 170B (N170JA) just as I was entering Mystic Pass, in the Alaska Range. My front seat passenger was taking video -- and he continued to film until just above the ground when I yelled "it's gonna be rough" and he decided he better stop filming and hang on. As for what happened to the airplane, before leaving on the chopper I had walked off 900' usable feet of gravel bar. A friend who is also an excellent bush pilot and an A&P flew in a borrowed engine (in his Cessna 206U), landing next to my airplane. Using a spruce-legged tripod made from local trees, he swapped out engines right there on the gravel bar. Only took him four hours. We flew my airplane to the A & P's hangar where he put together a "new" engine for me. I sold the airplane in 1992 and the last I checked, it's still in Alaska.
