After a great afternoon catching some nice tailing redfish on my new 8wt. Sage Xi3 fly rod. I was on the back to the dock with my Wife Carin, Daughter Sienna and good friend Byron and we happened to come across a huge school of tailing jack crevalle that were all 20 pounds or more. We where quite a bit under gunned with such light fly rods considering I usually throw at least a 10 or 11wt. fly rod for fish of this size. I decided to give it a try anyway and made a good cast and hooked up to a monster and the battle was on! After a good 20 minutes I landed the 30lb. jack and put my new rod through the ultimate test! What great way to finish the day with my family and friend catching a big sunset jack!
