Dune - Extended Shadout Mapes Scene

It's me with another Dune vid ^_^ Despite the extended edition, there were still loads more scenes from Dune that fans had only ever heard of. One such scene was the complete version of Shadout Mapes confronting Jessica, and showing her the Crysknife. The extended edition only showed part of this scene. Thanks to the deleted scenes on the new DVD, and a bit of editing, we can now see the what the full scene was intended to be like Footage belongs to Universal
Emperor: Atreides - Part 7 - Save The Duke
Full-Motion cutscene from Westwood Studio's Emperor: Battle For Dune. Duke Achillus has gone to meet with the Fremen representatives near the Starport by Castle Caladan. Kolinar proceeds to tell the Commander about Fremen culture, particularly about the Crysknife. Fremen allowing a Crysknife off-world, let alone in the hands of an off-worlder is either considered madness or a sign of very deep trust. Before Kolinar can prepare the Commander further, Duke Achillus transmits terrible news. His personal guard has been murdered and replaced by Face-Dancer (Tlielaxu shape-shifter) assassins. The Fremen have protected the Duke thus far, but it is not certain how long they can survive.

Dune - Deleted Scene - Shadout Mapes tests Jessica
The first part of this scene appears in the Extended Version, but is cut short, this segment completes the whole scene which features Lady Jessica (Francesca Annis) and Shadout Mapes (Linda Hunt). See scene 92 of the Sixth Draft and Seventh Draft of Dune. One of my favourite things about the Star Trek franchise are all the great ambient sounds that represent the engine noise on the various ships. My favourite ambient noise from the whole series is the engine idling noise in TNG. I have cleaned up a sample from the show and then looped it for 24 hours. This scene was cut from the theatrical release of Dune, but is included in the "Extended Edition" 168. EXT. FREMEN PLACE - DEEP DESERT - NIGHT JAMIS (hate) He surprised me... It was an accident... I invoke the amtal rule! JESSICA (inner voice) The man with death in his voice. He means to have single combat with Paul! STILGAR (to Jessica) But Jamis... you force this fight.... These people have my countenance... if you should win I will cut you down. PAUL (to Jamis) Jamis, I don't want to fight you.... Maybe if I explain.... JAMIS Explain? Explain death! I'm going to sheath my knife in your blood. Jessica is pulled away tenderly by some of the Fremen. Chani comes up very close to Paul. PAUL (quietly to Chani) No shields... I'm used to shield fighting... CHANI (whispering) Take my crysknife... Jamis turns to the right with his knife after a parry... and watch for a knife switch. Paul is suddenly moved forward and a ring of Fremen surrounds him. Jamis unsheathes his crysknife. JAMIS May thy knife chip and shatter! They begin circling each other. PAUL (inner voice) Fear is the mind killer... the little death... Jamis leaps. Paul easily evades him. Jamis attacks again and Paul stabs, but too slowly because of his shield training. Jamis turns and springs, trying to surprise Paul, but again Paul easily outmaneuvers him but is too slow on his attack. On the next attack, Paul cuts Jamis' hand and Jamis begins to show fear. JESSICA (inner voice) He's never killed a man like this <b>...</b>
