The "Bill" in question is 80+ New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham. For decades, this Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours." Documenting uptown fixtures (Wintour, Tom Wolfe, Brooke Astor, David Rockefeller—who all appear in the film out of their love for Bill), downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham's enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.

Rare footage by Yvon Chouinard, initially created for National Geographic featuring John Cunningham climbing an unspecified climb on Ben Nevis. No permission was granted to put this up, but I felt this is footage that shoud be shared with people. If the creators are unhappy with this then I can take it down. A few points of interest ... The 'climb' is actually a montage of different shots, I'm not sure the exact climbs, but my best guesses, based on the forum posts that have gone up, and an email are that the initial shot zooming in is Zero gulley (see www.youtube.com ), except that the shot has been reversed for some reason. The middle section, with the avalance is possibly Garadh Gully page 189 of Creaagh Dhu Climber "part of the film was supposed to be fictional," says Chouinard, with John playing a hard case from a rundown part of Glasgow. He rides on his motorbike across Rannoch moor, solos something and then slips and falls but no-one knows if it is real or imagined, it was kinda surreal. The film never got to be seen because in another section, filmed in China , half the film crew were caught in a terrible avalanche. The director was killed and I broke a couple of ribs." Chouinard also mentions the filming in his 'Climbing ice' book (page 157 in the original 1978 version). He mentions being avalanched near Comb Buttress, by a cornice collapse on Number Two gully. The ferry crossing is actually the corran ferry, but probably made to look lik ethe bally one. the <b>...</b>

Chance Conversations: An Interview with Merce Cunningham and John Cage
In the spring of 1981, during a residency at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, choreographer Merce Cunningham and composer John Cage sat down to discuss their work and artistic process. As frequent collaborators, Cage and Cunningham pioneered a new framework of performance. Their novel approach allowed for mediums to exist independently, or rather cohabitate, within a performance, thus abandoning the co-dependent model of dance and music. Cage and Cunningham go on to discuss the methodology and motivations behind chance operations, a term used to describe artistic decisions based on unpredictability. Wanting to free himself of his likes and dislikes, Cage describes how Zen Buddhism influenced his work, leading him to use tools of chance. These new methods, adopted by both Cunningham and Cage, overturned a whole foundation of thought around music, movement, and the process of creating art.

In 1944, Martha Graham's ballet was filmed in 16mm with the original cast, as a reference tool. Unfortunately, it was shot without sound, and as far as I know no one has attempted to add the score back. I took the music from the 1958 film included on the 2007 Criterion DVD: www.amazon.com ...and tried to match it as closely as I could to the 1944 version. This is all the footage that was included, in bits and pieces, on the DVD. Corkman Conor Cunningham travelled to Tallinn's A. Le Coq Arena and managed to bypass security after sneaking in a stadium side entrance. After sitting next to Estonia manager Tarmo Ruutli for Ireland's 4-0 first victory last Friday, he was spotted by TV cameras on the pitch afterwards celebrating with the Ireland players. "I just spotted an open door and I thought I will stick my head through there but it was just a closed-in room but I found an Estonian tracksuit and I just threw it on," he told the Mirror. "I threw the bag of balls over my shoulder and just went for it. I didn't know what to do, to be honest, so I thought I'd better go into the Estonian dug-out." "No one said anything to me and then I realised I was sitting beside their manager (Tarmo Ruutli). "It was about 10 or 15 minutes into the match when a UEFA official got suspicious of me. He came over and, after talking to me, told me I had to move. "Even after the match I just strolled out on to the pitch." Doran Cunningham 6-B Ship fog horn
This is a 1940's Doran Cunningham air horn. Usually found on WWII US Navy destroyer ships, and also found on some older ferries. There are only 2 of these that are being used that I know of. Mine and Adam's (Airraidsiren on YouTube). Very rare that only six have been seen in pictures and each one had a different configuration. The 6B is close to 200lbs. of brass, has a 12" diaphragm,my 6B measures 36 1/4" long, and has an 18" bell/horn opening. There are markings at the footing of the air inlet "DD416". This is not the biggest horn made; but is considered the best because of it's sound!
