Hey everyone - this is how I make snowflakes out of paper. Just paper & scissors... all you need. The how-to is about 10 minutes long but you can cut a snowflake in less than 5 once you learn how. When you have some of your own snowflakes why don't you respond to to this video and show 'em off!

Swoon is a Brooklyn-based artist whose life-sized woodblock and cut-paper portraits hang on walls in various states of decay in cities around the world. She has designed and built several large-scale installations, most notably the Swimming Cities of Switchback Sea at Deitch Projects in 2008. Her pieces have been collected by The Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, & the Tate Modern. Major pieces have appeared at PS1, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and Black Rat Press. Swoon is also an instigator and a collaborator. She founded the Toyshop collective and the Miss Rockaway Armada, and is a member of Just Seeds and the Transformazium. Since 2006 she has organized four large-scale raft projects and floated down the Mississippi and Hudson rivers with them. Most recently, she and her collaborators designed a flotilla of sea-going rafts that invaded the 2009 Venice Biennale. Her artistic process is predicated on the belief that art is an immersive, provocative, and transformative experience for its participants. Although her aesthetics can be seen as an outgrowth of street art, her engagement with ethical living and making art share a close kinship with the idealism of off-grid, barter-based cultures and economies based on sharing. For Sarah -- the sound of a haircut This was not my most difficult audio to pull together, but it was the most time consuming. I bribed a stylist with an Olive Garden gift card to let me record her cutting hair. I couldn't do "takes"; I could only record hours of hair cutting and hope for a good 15 minutes of audio. This final 15 minute cut was a miracle—the stylist's stomach did not growl, no one barged in through the front door, no phones rang, none of the other stylists on duty used and flushed the employee bathroom toilet, the client did not speak, and I read a Cosmo magazine (you can hear the stylist laughing at me)—as I said, a miracle. I used a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder with a wind screen to reduce the sound from the overhead HVAC vent—so the volume is not as loud as I would have liked. But the sound quality is quite good. She wore high heels so her steps are clearly audible (hopefully not distracting), but the clipping sounds came across nicely. I recorded the sound of shampooing but decided not to use it. I recommend using headphones or earbuds to get the most from this audio. I hope someone finds this relaxing.
