2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES [CVT] - Tsudo N1 Exhaust

There aren't many videos of the Tsudo N1 on a current gen Lancer, much less an installation video. So here ya go. There are NO other mods on this car. Everything is purely stock, except the exhaust, of course. By the way, if you buy this exhaust, you're probably going to have to do what I did and use a clamp or something to hold the exhaust up, or else it'll probably end up falling off and you'll be dragging it down the road.

An internal look of a variator, a part of a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission). What you see here are both a side view and a frontal view of the ACTIVE variator. This variator has round weights (6 green ones in this ex) which are a key element here. As the variator house spins by the engine, the centrifugal forces push these weights outside, and on to the wall of the second half of the variator house which pushes the driving belt (black) outside - changing the final drive ratio. As I said, This part of the variator shown here is THE ACTIVE one in the system. There is another PASSIVE (or SLAVE) variator, (not shown in this presentation) that looks SIMILAR to what is shown here. If you look at it working, then you'll see that it opens as the front one closes. This PASSIVE variator has no weights, but just a spring that pushes the plates one to another, with the belt moving between them. The ACTIVE variator is stronger then the spring force, allowing it to control the passive's variator opening - in and out. The combination of two variators, one that closes while other is open, and vise versa, is what constantly changes the final drive ratios. John's Journal - This CVT's a Ball

CVTs aren't a new idea. Snowmobiles have used similar drive-trains for years; and why not? They're generally more efficient and they don't have fixed shift points like traditional gearboxes. Yet, with the exception of Nissan and maybe Audi, automakers have been reluctant to embrace the CVT. But that may soon change. A company called Fallbrook Technologies has developed an all-new type of CVT they call a continuously variable planetary transmission. In fact, it's so different it uses ball bearings and plates instead of pulleys and chains. Named after Leonardo da Vinci, the NuVinci CVP as they call it can be used in countless applications ranging from bicycles to power-generating wind turbines.

Continuously Variable Transmission System Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, India India is primarily an agricultural country, and modern technology plays a major role in its agricultural practices. Its farming machines are powered by internal combustion engines, with speed and torque variations effected using conventional gears, which causes the engines to lose fuel efficiency over time. To increase engine efficiency and to achieve infinitely variable transmission, this team is developing a Pulley Type Continuously Variable Transmission that can be incorporated into existing tractors and harvesters, eliminating the need for gears and gear boxes in the power train. A simple arrangement of two variable diameter pulleys connected by one angular contact Vari-speed Elastomer belt can be attached to the drive shaft, the pulleys being actuated by stepper motors and/or clutch-based hydraulic control systems. This changeover could result in major savings in fuel by running the engine at its efficient speed and driving at any desired speed through stepless variations.
