Documentary cut of world war II movie. On the 29th of September 1938, the four European leaders:Benito Mussolini, Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain and Edouard Daladier met in Hitler's Munich. The Czechoslovak President Benes was not invited and neither was the Soviet leader Stalin. As a matter of fact Benes was allowed to come to the meeting but merely as an observer and he was not allowed to actively participate. One could say that Hitler only wanted him there if they had some practical questions about the actual splitting of his country. Benes received the papers after the negotiation, but only to sign them. The Czechoslovak people still refer to this meeting as the meeting that decided their future WITHOUT THEM.

Santiago's Estadio Nacional served as the venue for the final itself, and after 15 minutes, Brazil again found themselves a goal behind in the World Cup final, as a long ball from Adolf Scherer was latched onto by Josef Masopust: 10 Czechoslovakia. However, just like the previous final four years earlier, Brazil soon hit back, equalising two minutes later through Amarildo after an error by the hitherto flawless Czechoslovak goalkeeper Schrojf. The Brazilians did not stop there and with goals from Zito and Vavá (another Schrojf error) mid-way through the second half, the Czechoslovaks just couldn't get back into the game. WARNING : THIS VIDEO CONTAINS EXTREME ANTI-STALINISM 15 years after the failure of the Nazi Uprising in DDR and 13 years after the failure of the fascist Uprising in Hungary the Western Allies began a new Operation to destabilize the young People's Republics of Central Europe. This time their target was the Socialist Republic of Czechoslovakia. There they managed to manifest a short-lived Uprising with primary objective the restoration of the old regime. The Allies called this attempt Operation "Zephyr". Contrary to the Nazi Uprising in DDR and the Fascist Uprising of Hungary Operation Zephyr did not depend so much on Nazi collaborators and fascist war criminals. Nazi elements still played their role but this was done in discreet without taking any vanguard positions. Instead Operation Zephyr based its success on the power of money. Huge amounts of cash were invested in hiring agents while even more were spent in an attempt to bribe and takeover state officials along with promises for even greater "donations" However the people of Czechoslovakia proved that they were not so willing to sell of their values and vitrues for a bunch of US Dollars. And this time the Soviets proved themselves more than just reliable allies. The Uprising ended in a total failure and the western imperialists ended up mourning their lost cash. Found a second picture of Alena Vrzanova, the great Czech World champion from the Dick Button era (1949 and 1950). Dick is always fussing about girls turning their free legs out on the layback spin......I suspect this is the girl who first brought this development to the spin, and so seduced Mr. Button with her beauty and charm. This is a far more glamorous picture of her than I had posted earlier. She had been defeated earlier at both 1948 Worlds, Olympics, and Europeans by Eva Pawlik of Austria. Eva (who had just won the 1949 European title) was forced to withdraw from the 1949 World event after school figures, when her boot heel broke off during warm up for the finals, and the referee did not allow her to change equipment with another skater. Eva decided to turn pro after this unfortunate event.
