AND WEWILL DANCE FILM PROJECT.com is about the stories of dancers, their art and their passion. It was born out of artist/director Steve Childs desire to put these stories on film but to go far beyond the boundaries of the sixty-eight minute final cut of the documentary And We Will Dance. While working with my editors I soon realized that of the nearly seventy hours of footage we shot there were so many more stories to be told and so much more of my vision that I wanted to share, says Childs. Though the film is completed in the classic sense, AND WE WILL DANCE FILM PROJECT provides the avenue for these remaining clips to come to light through the ongoing unveiling of these dancers lives. Childs continues, The plan is basically to release a new set of clips each week which build on the film. As far as Im concerned this IS part of the film. The new clips will range from one to ten minutes and will vary greatly in style and purpose. Balakrishna (Kamal) is a poor multi-talented dancer, adept at all classical Indian danceforms and his dream is to perform at an All-India level competition. Madhavi (Jayaprada), a rich girl notices his talent and helps in getting him an opportunity to perform in an all-India competition. As he is all set to realize his dream, his ageing mother passes away and his dream gets shattered. Slowly, he gets closer to Madhavi and the day he wishes to propose to her, he realises that she is already married and her husband left her. Now the husband wants to re-unite with her which forces him to sacrifice his love. Years pass by and Balakrishna turns into a drunkard. Meanwhile Madhavi loses her husband. She comes to know of Balakrishna who the doctors say is going to die soon. So she takes care of his medical needs and requests Balakrishna to teach dance to her daughter. The movie ends with Madhavi's daughter becoming a great dancer and the death of Balakrishna giving a message that there is no end to art. The bonds that formed among the dancers were amazing and I will forever remember the friends I made there. Though the competition is strong among the dancers the relationships are even stronger. AWWDFILM PROJECT is about the stories of dancers, their art and their passion. It was born out of artist/director Steve Childs desire to put these stories on film but to go far beyond the boundaries of the sixty-eight minute final cut of the documentary And We Will Dance. While working with my editors I soon realized that of the nearly seventy hours of footage we shot there were so many more stories to be told and so much more of my vision that I wanted to share, says Childs. Though the film is completed in the classic sense, AND WE WILL DANCE FILM PROJECT provides the avenue for these remaining clips to come to light through the ongoing unveiling of these dancers lives. Childs continues, The plan is basically to release a new set of clips each week which build on the film. As far as Im concerned this IS part of the film.
