Vietnamese Dan moi

I am showing you a few of my Dan moi. Dan moi are a traditional mountain instrument of the Hmong people. The Hmong are a minority group living in all of southeast Asia. They are usually mountain people and don't mix with the native population. This instrument is used as love communication. Disclaimer: This is for entertainment purposes only. Please do not take this in any way as meaning I am asking for your love. As I will not take your love and not give mine away. Unless you're a hot girl. Preferably ages 18-26... Thank you.

The song, under the original title "Jock-A-Mo", was written in 1953 by James "Sugar Boy" Crawford, but it was the Dixie Cups who sang it at an improptu recording session featuring drum sticks and ashtrays. Leiber and Stoller liked it and they added bass and drums and IKO IKO was released and became a hit. Never really understood the lyrics and apparently not many people do, but there is some agreement that it is all about Mardi Gras in New Orleans and the collision of two "tribes" during the parade. After the Dixie Cups version of the "Iko Iko" was released in 1965, The Dixie Cups and their record label, Redbird Records, were sued by James Crawford, who claimed that "Iko Iko" was the same as his composition "Jockamo". Although The Dixie Cups denied that the two compositions were similar, the lawsuit resulted in a settlement in 1967 with Crawford making no claim to authorship or ownership of "Iko Iko" , but being credited 25% for public performances, such as on radio, of "Iko Iko" in the United States. Even though a back-to-back listening of the two recordings clearly demonstrates that "Iko Iko" was practically the same song as Crawford's "Jock-a-mo", Crawford's rationale for the settlement was motivated by years of legal battles with no royalties. In the end, he stated, "I don't even know if I really am getting my just dues. I just figure 50 percent of something is better than 100 percent of nothing." Listeners wonder what 'Jock-A-Mo' means. Some music scholars say it ...

Refined mouth harp. Its sound is consistent and rich in harmonics. The instrument body is so solid that it does not vibrate when played. The reed allows great movement versatility without generating tension on the jaw. Size: 11cm / 4.3"

sun arise (feat Dan Moi and a too long moustache)

The Dan moi is the traditional instrument of the Meo (Hmung) people of Vietnam. Made of very thin brass and has a single reed. It is carried and protected in a bright fabric covered case. Deets has her trumpet Kapt Gangles has his stylophone so not to be left out in the exotic instruments race the "SMALL GINGER ONE" yeah that is how the English would say WEE GINGA YIN has got himself a Dan Moi. This is my first attempt at playing it but if you want to hear a virsuoso then check out Samm Bennett www.youtube.com or if you want to buy one for yourself check out the Mini Dan Moi - Double tang demo by JonnyMcBoingBoing www.youtube.com Oh and when I tried to demo it it kept getting stuck in my moustache, Happy twanging... this one went out for Kenny and the Kaptains... everyone loves a bit of Rolf. Playing the Dan Moi (jews harp)

if you like my files, leave a message :).. My "music" or sounds as I prefer calling them, come from within... it is more the need for expression then the will to make music that drives me. Sounds which translate the feelings and stories from within, can be beautifull too :)
