US military responsible for Dasht-e-Leili massacre?

Since the war on terror began one of the worst atrocities happened this month ten years ago. The Dasht-e-Leili massacre was under the control of General Abdul Rashid Dostum, a US ally and Afghan warlord, who had been given control of thousands of Taliban prisoners by US forces. Witnesses say thousands suffocated to death after being packed into metal containers or were shot to death. War Crimes and the White House: The Bush Administration's Cover-Up of the Dasht-e-Leili Massacre

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) has issued a call for a criminal probe in the wake of a major New York Times story by James Risen with new evidence that the Bush Administration impeded at least three federal investigations into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan in 2002. ("US Inaction Seen After Taliban POWs Died" - NYTimes.com bit.ly PHR is calling for the Department of Justice to investigate why the Bush Administration impeded an FBI criminal probe of the alleged Dasht-e-Leili massacre. According to US government documents obtained by PHR, as many as 2000 surrendered Taliban fighters were reportedly suffocated in container trucks by Afghan forces operating jointly with the US in November 2001. The bodies were reportedly buried in mass graves in the Dasht-e-Leili desert near Sheberghan, Afghanistan. Notorious Afghan warlord General Abdul Rashid Dostum, who was reportedly on the CIA payroll, is allegedly responsible for the massacre. This video, detailing nearly eight years of advocacy and investigation by Physicians for Human Rights, explores the events surrounding the massacre and subsequent cover-up. She was best known for her semi-classical Urdu ghazal songs and classical thumris, but also sang easy-listening numbers in 1950s films. Iqbal Bano was born in Delhi, British India. From a young age, she developed a love for music. It was a crucial moment of her life when her friend's father told Bano's father, "My daughters do sing reasonably well, but Iqbal is blessed in singing. She will become a big name if you begin her training Her father allowed her to study music. When Bano was a teenager she migrated to Pakistan along with her family. In Delhi, she studied under Ustad Chaand Khan of the Delhi Gharana, an expert in all kinds of pure classical and light classical forms of vocal music. This piece is an improvisation by Ostad Jalil Shahnaz, one of the greatest if not the greatest master of the Persian instrument, the tar, accompanied by master percussionist, Ostad Naser Eftetah on Tombak. The piece is called (by Ostad Shahnaz himself), "Shoor o Dasht" - essentially meaning a melding of two Persian modes, Shuhr and Dashti, though the piece could be categorized as being in the (sub) mode (or "avaz") of Abu Atta as well. This music represents one of Ostad Shahnaz's greatest masterpieces, and according to many connoisseurs of this art form, one of the great masterpieces of traditional Persian music! This is a home recording made shortly after the 1979 Islamic revolution and during a time when music was for the most part banned throughout Iran and professional musicians were essentially forced underground.
