Doris Day - Storm Warning (1951) - Original Trailer

Doris Day - Storm Warning (1951) - Original Trailer Storm Warning is a 1951 American thriller, directed by Stuart Heisler, and stars Ginger Rogers, Doris Day, and Ronald Reagan. Doris Day (born Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff; April 3, 1924) is an American actress and singer, and an animal rights activist since her retirement from show business. Her entertainment career began in the 1940s as a big band singer. In 1945 she had her first hit recording, "Sentimental Journey". In 1948, she appeared in her first film, Romance on the High Seas. During her entertainment career, she appeared in 39 films, recorded more than 650 songs, received an Academy Award nomination, won a Golden Globe and a Grammy Award, and, in 1989, received the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in motion pictures. As of 2009, Day was the top-ranking female box office star of all time and ranked sixth among the top ten box office performers (male and female). While singing with the Les Brown band and briefly with Bob Hope, Day toured extensively across the United States. Her popularity as a radio performer and vocalist, which included a second hit record "My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time", led directly to a career in films. Already in 1941 Day appeared as a singer with the Les Brown band in a soundie (a Cinemasters production). After her separation from her second husband, George Weidler, in 1948, Day reportedly intended to leave Los Angeles and return to her mother's home in Cincinnati ...

Local Forecast (Labor Day Storm 1998)

A Derecho devastated central New York on september 7th 1998. I happened to be up at that time and was able to record how the old weatherstar 4000 handeled it. I watched it until it took my cable and power out. Then I had to go in my basement for a half hour. There must have been a lightning bolt every second. Trees were uprooted all over my town. I only remember one other storm like that. It was the July 15th 1995 derecho. It woke me up when it blasted my area with a powerful wind and then the lightning came. Transformer explosions along with lightning stirkes created quite a light show in the sky.

The New York State Labor Day Derechos were two derecho events that occurred on Labor Day, September 7, 1998. One derecho moved through northern and central New York state, and the other would start in southeastern Michigan and move through northeastern Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Long Island, New York. The northernmost derecho (dubbed the Syracuse Labor Day Derecho and referred to locally as "The Labor Day Storm"), got its start in northwestern New York just before midnight on September 7 after several thunderstorm cells coming from Ontario converged to become a bow echo. It quickly moved southeastward through New York. Some of the worst damage occurred at Rochester, Syracuse, and Utica. Three people were killed, two of them at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

The ski season will start early if the global warming does not happen on time, so drive as much as possible, use coal instead of nuclear, and promote solar power, because production of solar panels releases huge amounts of greenhouse gases much more powerful than CO2 or methane.

Safe Ashore: The 1940 Armistice Day Storm

In 1940, a storm shook the Tacoma Narrows bridge to pieces and then raced eastward towards the Great Lakes. When it hit Lake Michigan, it pushed northward at 126 miles per hour.. blowing out the portholes at Lansing Shoals light and flipping over the freighter Davock. The waves ripped the steamer Anna C. Minch in two, and pushed the Novadoc ashore like a toy. Over 40 sailors lost their lives- and the scene was set for one of the most dramatic rescues. Safe Ashore tells that story with rare film footage of the rescue.

I did this video before the Winter of `07 one. It`sa timeline video of the 2007 Valentines Day Storm in Syracuse NY. I worked a little over 24 hours straight during the storm and tried to put it together in a way that shows the type of sacrifice highway crews make and how we all put our jobs in front of family sometimes to keep the roads safe. The song is called "Sleep" by The Dandy Warhols and I think it tells the story well.
