DC Comics Reboot Outsells Marvel

bit.ly - Click to Subscribe! Facebook.com - Become a Fan! Twitter.com - Follow Us! Aquaman is cool again. Yep, Aquaman. Well, and the rest of the DC team. . Hey movie buffs, Tatiana Carrier here for Clevver Movies. For those of you not in the comic loop, last September DC comics "reboot" their entire universe taking 52 of their characters and creating all new #1's. That's right. Last August we had Batman #712 on the comic book shelves, the next month, we got to start over with issue #1. It was across the board, all of the companies heavy hitters got to start fresh. . Comic book fans everywhere at first were very much against this idea. In fact, even now, some fans are completely repulsed by the idea and lack of continuity as some would say. Needless to say, this was a ballsy move on DC's part. But they needed to do something. Their stories were all over the place, and sales were down. Way down. They needed to find a way to clean things up and give a new audience a place where they could start reading from. And I'm happy to say, that it paid off, in a big way. . Some comic book shop owners were saying that they would sell six DC comics to one Marvel comic. Even if Marvel was dominating the movie theatres this summer over DC, the same couldn't be said in the comic book stores. DC had managed to reel in a whole new crowd of fans. Figures just released from the Hollywood Reporter show the number one DC comic was Justice League #1 which sold 361138 compared to Marvel's top <b>...</b>

Thanks for checking back with clevver movies, Im your host, Tatiana carrier and ive the scoop on the future of your favorite DC comics! Weve been reporting on a possible Green Lantern sequel, and while its very realistic possibility, the flick will probably have a new director attached. Despite the big-budget superhero movie's disappointing box office performance so far, Warner Bros. executives still want to find a way to make a sequel work. Bringing superheroes from its DC Comics unit to the big screen is a top priority for the studio, and executives believe that the problem with "Green Lantern" was in EXECUTION... not concept. Warner Brothers film group Prez Jeff Robinov said, "We had a decent opening so we learned there is an audience...To go forward we need to make it a little edgier and darker with more emphasis on action." While the execs aren't 100% percent sure of what the sequels storyline will be, one thing they DO know is that they want a new director. Apparently the studio wasn't impressed with the original's director, Martin Campbell, so the director chair will most likely have a new last name engraved on it! Also according to Robinov, the studio has "a solid script" for the Scarlet Speedster. The executive also remains interested in bringing DC heroes together for a "Justice League" movie. DC Comics: Flashpoint pt. 1 - Time After Time (New 52)

Flashpoint is an American comic book crossover story arc published by DC Comics. Consisting of an eponymous core limited series and a number of tie-in titles, the storyline premiered in May 2011. The core miniseries series was written by Geoff Johns and penciled by Andy Kubert. The series details an altered DC Universe in which only Barry Allen, Kid Flash and Booster Gold seem to be aware of significant differences between the regular timeline and the altered one, including Cyborg's place as the quintessential hero, Superman's apparent detention by the government, and a Thomas Wayne version of Batman who spends "his days running Wayne Casinos." Consisting of a five-issue run, the series also crossed over with Booster Gold, sixteen three-issue miniseries, and a number of one-shots beginning in June 2011. DC also announced that Flash #12 would be the last in the series; a thirteenth issue had been announced for sale on May 25, 2011, but had since been withdrawn. Barry Allen wakes up to discover he is in an altered timeline in which Citizen Cold is Central City's greatest hero; his mother Nora (deceased in his own timeline) is alive; his father, Henry, died of a heart attack three years ago (instead of in prison); and that the Flash, the Justice League, and Superman do not exist. In Gotham City, Batman throws a criminal off a building before being confronted by Cyborg. DC Comics: Flashpoint - This is Batman/Thomas Wayne

First introduced in "Detective Comics" #33 in 1939 during the first telling of Batman's origin, Thomas Wayne was murdered along with his wife, Martha by a mugger -- later revealed to be Joe Chill -- while young Bruce watched helplessly. Bruce Wayne vowed vengeance and became the Dark Knight. In "Flashpoint," however, mother and son were killed in Crime Alley and Thomas Wayne, fueled by hatred, transformed himself into Gotham's caped (and cowled) crusader. written by Brian Azzarello and illustrated by Eduardo Risso

Collectors Cornered #22 - The New DC Comics Logo Feedback!

Collectors Cornered is a weekly video column, filmed inside Collectors Corner in Baltimore. Join us every week as we discuss comic book news from a different point of view and get instant feedback from real customers on New Comics Day, as we literally corner them and and ask questions about comic books and related topics. Unscripted, reality CC. This week we ask our customers what they think about the NEW DC Comics Logo compared to the current and previous logos. We had a really hard time finding anyone with a difference of opinion that liked the new logo after asking and discussing now the logo for weeks and then finally recording on Wednesday. Owner of Collectors Corner, Randy Myers had this to add : "DC Entertainment/Time Warner is well aware of the power of a Logo, and i personally feel that this New Logo was chosen to reflect their interest in merging mediums by having a unified logo that evokes the digital age. This is not an accident or coincidental! The idea behind a logo like this is to work mostly in the Digital realm or non-static (non-printed) realm. For anyone with even a minor knowledge of basic brand recognition that they would likely notice the intention to use this Logo digitally and across other media platforms along with print on Comic Books and collections as an attempt to blur the lines between them to the consumer. This is ideal for DC Comics as they in my opinion, believe like many other companies that Digital Comics will be a profitable and viable <b>...</b>

DC Comics: Brightest Day pt. 1 - Here Comes The Rain

The story begins the day after Blackest Night showing Boston smashing his tombstone. While doing so, a piece of the tombstone hits a nesting baby bird; the bird then falls from the tree and dies but is resurrected by the white ring that Boston has on. The ring then takes him to everyone that was resurrected and he (while being invisible) sees how they are celebrating their new leases on life. Boston then asks the ring why it is showing him this; its answer was - it needs help. It then takes him to the destroyed Star City and creates a forest. Meanwhile, in New Mexico, Sinestro discovers a White Lantern battery. Hal and Carol arrive and try to lift the lantern, but it won't move...
