What Happens on Execution Day? A Death Penalty Documentary

This is a short, 10 minute documentary outlining the events that occur on execution day for those sentenced with the death penalty. It was filmed in Raleigh, North Carolina by Scott Langley. With the death penalty now being sought in the Casey Anthony case we thought you might find this interesting. A doctor at the state prison walks viewers through the routine of preparing for and carrying out an execution from begining to end. We don't feel this documentary is particularly disturbing visually; however, if you find the subject matter uncomfortable it is recommended you don't watch this video.

Cut This: The Death Penalty

Submitted as part of ABC7 uReport powered by YouTube: ureport.abc7news.com Take Action www.aclunc.org At a time of fiscal crisis, when there are more needs than dollars, we're calling on Sacramento to cut the death penalty. We would save $1 billion in five years without releasing a single prisoner or jeopardizing public safety—$1 billion that could be spent on education and vital social services for Californians. We know that advocates and community members from across the state are fighting to ensure that the vital social services that make the safety net for California's most vulnerable populations aren't slashed. We're here with a small piece of the solution. Need to cut something? Cut this: the death penalty. For more information about WHY the death penalty costs more visit this link: bit.ly

Court judgement re-ignites death penalty debate

www.ntv.co.ke The sentencing to death of former policeman Dickson Mwangi Munene and businessman Alexander Chepkonga has rekindled a hot debate on whether the country should still uphold and enforce the now controversial decree.Justice Mohammed Warsame committed the two to hang for the murder of Dr James Nganga, a son of former Gatundu North MP Patrick Muiruri in 2009.The ruling which has drawn varied reactions came one year after the court of appeal declared the mandatory death sentence for murder unconstitutional. Here's NTV's Jane Kiyo with some perspective on that story.

YAO JIAXIN DEAD AFTER RECEIVING DEATH PENALTY CCTV News

The 21-year-old university student Yao Jiaxin who stabbed a young mother to death to cover up a hit-and-run accident was executed on Tuesday morning. A death penalty is announced, leaving the 21-year-old killer only despair and regret. Yao's story began last October when he drove into a mother while she was riding a bicycle home. Fearing that the mother would remember his license plate number and report him to the police, Yao stabbed her 8 times, in her chest, stomach and back, and then left her to die. Yao said, "When I got out of the car, I found her lying on the ground, crying. She was a peasant, and it's a trouble, I feared she would come after me, so I stabbed her." His case triggered great public anger, especially after Yao's alma mater tried to defend him and describe him as a kind, honest and splendid student. Many netizens connected it with increasing incidents of reckless behavior by the country's wealthy younger generation and cries for legal justice by insisting on the death penalty. During the trial, Yao argued his parents force him to practice piano, which resulted in him occasionally smashing the piano keys to take out his anger. He "mechanically" stabbed the mother several times because of this habit. And he hoped for a second chance. Information provided by cctv.com Thank you www.cctv.com http
