$10 Oil? Mike Maloney Schools Bankers on Deflation, Gold and Silver (Part 1 of 2)

www.wealthcycles.com Mike Maloney was recently invited to speak at the 8th International Banking Forum in Sochi, Russia. The purpose of the conference was for bankers from around the world to meet and discuss the current state of the global economy, the banking system, and strategies for protecting their personal wealth (hence the speaking spot for Mike). The first morning passed without too much fuss as each speaker gave an introduction and a brief talk on his or her area of expertise. However, by the end of the day...it became obvious that something was definitely wrong. After speaking with many of the attendees, Mike was alarmed to find that practically none of the international bankers understood our present monetary system. Most had no idea how currency is created! Here at wealthcycles.com, we've often wondered exactly how well modern day bankers understand the worldwide predicament that we find ourselves in. Ladies and gentlemen, our worst fears have been confirmed - the lights are on, but there's nobody home. Mike's presentation on personal protection of wealth changed overnight, into one of basic education on our monetary system. How can anybody take the role of wealth protection (or running an economy!) seriously unless they can see the massive storm that lies ahead? Whether you are a banker or a baker, a lawyer or a bricklayer...the time to get educated is NOW. We hope you enjoy Mike's frantic effort to awaken the conference from its slumber. Stephen Leeb, "The Real Threat to this World is Deflation and Depression"

To watch more visit us @ www.youtube.com Watch the full episode @ www.youtube.com twitter.com twitter.com Iran has issued a warning amidst rising tensions between itself, Israel and the united states, that if sanctions are leveled against the Persian nation, that oil would reach $250 a gallon. This is something that Wendy Sherman, undersecretary of state, warned about when harsh sanctions were passed by the senate last week. She said "there is absolutely a risk that in fact the pre ice of oil would go up, which would mean that Iran would in fact have more money to fuel its nuclear ambitions, not less." Is this an example of wrong-headed thinking by the US and the West? What good will this do if china is still buying Iranian oil? We ask economist Stephen Leeb what the effect of sanctions would be on the price of oil, and if this would actually work in Iran's favor. We also ask Dr. Leeb to comment on the similarities, or rather the differences, between the 1970's commodities and price inflation, and what we are facing in this decade. Will we see wage inflation, or will prices just increase for consumers, but stagnate for workers?

Harms of Inflation vs. Benefits of Deflation

When it comes to monetary policy, politicians, economic planners at the Federal Reserve, and public opinion are afraid of entirely the wrong scenario. They pursue a deliberate gradual inflation of the money supply for fear that the opposite tendency -- a great deflation might take hold. They allege that deflation is a great calamity, and that mild inflation is a lesser evil or even a preferable policy to follow. The Keynesians among them contend that inflation encourages investment in business enterprises and provides an economic stimulus. And yet, writes Mr. Stolyarov, the conventional wisdom has it all wrong. The politicians in fact favor the devil they know -- inflation -- over the angel they don't know -- deflation. Indeed, deflation has historically been an economic blessing, while inflation has wreaked nothing but havoc in individual finances and in entire societies. Original essay by G. Silver Porn In Deflation

I talk about the need for silver in deflation; in deflation its possible for the price of silver and gold in dollars to go down relentlessly and THAT DOES NOT MATTER ONE OUNCE! MF Global was an example of deflation where customer money goes from 100c on the dollar to 60c on the dollar! Sure silver can go down in dollars; but it should stay constant in purchasing power to things such as gasoline fuel and other currencies. I think we need to expand out thinking so silver and metals start to become a currency. So if the price of bullion goes down, I will simply move risk away from the system to my pocket.

Mike Norman on Austerity in Europe, Debt Deflation, and the Emasculation of Wall Street?

Follow us @ twitter.com twitter.com As Greek debt talks continue to painfully drag on, new EU statistics speak to the success of debt crisis policy prescriptions in counties forced to seek bailouts...THET DEBT, rose in Greece, Portugal and Ireland in Q3 of 2011. So when is this giant elephant in the room going to be confronted? Are politicians and economist alike at all interested in confronting a reality where debt levels are now cursing any hopes for future growth? And the cover of New York magazine shows a wall street banker holding his recently "emasculated" genitalia. Is this for real? Are we really to believe that Wall Street has been emasculated? How about we see some of these financial criminals face charges for their roles and maybe go to jail? How about some of these executives who head up bailed out banks are forced to give up their multi-million dollar bonuses and knighthoods like in the UK and get fired. So far, we still see a lot of signs that the biggest firms are getting favors not punishment from the regulators with the power to emasculate. We are going to talk to economist Mike Norman about this, as well as about deficits and whether or not the US can sustain this mounting debt going forward, or if Europe is a unique example of what happens when you owe money that you can't print. And on the issue of politics, Ron Paul may not be leading in the polls for the republic nomination but is he amassing the political capital needed to reign in the fed's crony ...

US Dollar Deflation

www.ForexConspiracyReport.com - US Dollar Deflation The recent good news-bad news about the housing market also has to do with US dollar deflation and Forex markets. The good news for the economy in general is that there are more housing starts in the USA. The good news for home buyers is that when the price of new and existing homes falls it makes it easier for new buyers to enter the housing market. The bad news is that the same process brings down the value of existing homes. Home values have already taken a real beating over the last few years. Thus a further decline is home values will further reduce the asset and credit base of American families. This could, in theory, lead to a deflationary spiral. US dollar deflation would also raise the value of the dollar versus other currencies. Since the housing bubble burst in 2006 the average loss in home value across the USA has been a third. Because many new homes are unsold and because there are many mortgage foreclosure homes on the market there is a downward pressure on home prices. Economists contend that the housing market is still correcting from the bubble of the early 2000's. Although the decline in housing values is general there are a few exceptions such as Phoenix where, it would appear, folks who still have money are moving. Economists are typically not concerned about a slow rate of inflation but even a slow rate of US dollar deflation gets them to worry. The concern is that the decreased wealth effect ...

Deflation - Gold and Silver Price Pullback

UPDATE: 9/23/11, 7:25 EST - A couple of posts this afternoon on ZeroHedge helps to (partially) explain the pullback in gold (and silver) prices. Seems the CME has jacked the margin requirements by 21% for gold and 16% for silver. Rumor has it that news of the impending margin hikes leaked. Links below! Case Closed: CME Hikes Gold, Silver, Copper Margins www.zerohedge.com also: Gold Liquidations Open Thread www.zerohedge.com The recent pullback in the price of gold and silver is indicative of deflationary pressures on all asset classes. It's not unexpected, and further pullback in prices should be expected, as the worldwide debt crises plays-out. If you have a long-term perspective, you won't let these price pull-backs shake you out of your positions in precious metals. I believe that once the debt crisis moves into full bloom, the money masters and politicians will attempt to truly flood the world with paper in a vein attempt to prevent the debt collapse. It will be during this phase of the big game that your gold and silver will dramatically increase in value relative to fiat currencies.

Mish Shedlock Explains Why We Have Deflation and Gold is Going Up--01-19-2012

Mike "Mish" Shedlock finally made it on to FSN's distinguished guest list. While Mish is often controversial and frequently derided by other members of the prognostication class, he has a unique perspective, which is entitled to some respect. As he explains it, the massive destruction of assets, such as real estate and debt backed securities has actually led to a shrinking of the money in circulation. Even though the Monetary Base M0 has greatly expanded in recent years, none of these newly created dollars have found their way in to the money supply. The reason is simple, banks aren't lending because of the lack of credit worthy borrowers. As a result, while governments have greatly stepped up borrowing, inflation, as he sees it, has remained subdued. Nonetheless, he believes that the declining confidence in government and the global monetary system is leading to ever increasing gold prices. He's a big gold proponent and believes that it's the place to be. While some may take issue with his take on inflation versus deflation, he appears to arrive at the right place--gold is going up. He's got a blog at globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com and is a registered investment advisor representative for Sitka Pacific Capital Management.
