He spent the day filming it with me, running his camera (Canon T3i). This video would not have happened if it wasn't for my friends Danielle Jensen and Tyce Jensen. They are the original creators of the modified trikes that were rode in the video. They even had a speedometer attached to the bikes they were riding, and they clocked in going 55mph down the road we filmed at, passing cars in the process. We shot this in a place called Powder Mountain Utah. As far as the sound design for this video, we actually didn't use a SINGLE piece of audio from the actual day of filming. For all the bike sounds and shoe noises, we recorded those the next day in a parking lot. I had my friends Scott Clarke and Ryan Faulkner help me record the audio for it. We recorded the sounds by getting a broken bike and throwing that against the cement for bike crash sounds. We then towed me behind a truck with my feet dragging against the cement to capture the same noises that were made the day of filming with the shoes skidding against the concrete. On a technical note The entire video was shot on a Canon 7D, all in 720P, at 60fps (frames per second). I used a couple different Canon lenses to shoot this, they were... Canon 70-200 F/2.8 Canon 100-400 F/4/5.6 Canon 2X III Extender (this makes the lens when it is at 400mm, become 800 mm's. It does loose some quality, but it's not very noticeable.) The entire video was shot all on the North Shore, at Pipeline, and Waimea for the big waves. To get the "super slow motion", after I filmed at 60fps, I through it into the program "After Effects". I used an effect that comes with the program called "Time Warp". This allowed me to make the 60fps, to 1000fps. The way this works is the computer processes/adds frames in between the frames that are already in existence. It took several days for the computer to process the clips into <b>...</b>

Without question the most scenic. It's also the main location in Oahu where Hollywood movies are filmed. Such movies as Jurassic Park, 50 First Dates, Godzilla, Wind talkers, Pearl Harbor Mighty Joe Young and even a great deal of the TV show LOST was filmed here. It' also a huge tourist attraction where, as you can see, you can horseback ride, sail boat, 4 wheel, movie bus tours, jungle expedition, boat cruise, dinner, the list goes on :) It really is honestly the most photogenic place in all of Oahu. And by the way, I'm not paid to say that :) I actually did this video for free, there was no money involved. And I did it just because I love the location. The staff at Kualoa ranch were super awesome/helpful to work with when filming this, super accommodating, and they helped with what we needed to get the shots we wanted. I got brought on by my friend Aaron Nelson who helped organize it. I have been working with the Mozo family to tell Jon's story, in which the documentary is about. Jon is a widely respected ocean/surf photographer known for not only his awesome photography work, but for the impact he left on all those he came around. That is what attracted me about the project to begin with, how many people loved this man because of his amazing impact on everyone he came in contact with. He died tragically at Pipeline 6 years ago doing the very thing he loved, photographing the waves. We shot this over a couple different afternoons. The first afternoon I went out with a bunch of friends, and filmed them jumping off of the tower. On the second day we shot the "story" part of the video, that's when we shot the guy in the " Ghillie suit", "sneaking in", and the guy then jumping off of the tower doing the "gainer(frontward backflip)". All of the video was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II except for the slow motion shots where I had two other friends come and help me film those. The entire film was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II. The only lens used was a Canon 70-200 FL series lens. I used that, an an extender, which double magnifies the 70-200, and makes it go up to 400mm for the super close shots. The magnifier I used was a Canon Extender EF 2x III. I shot the entire film at 24fps. I filmed it over the coarse of one full day, and one half day, back to back. I filmed it on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, all on the North Shore, at Sharks Cove the first day, and Waimea the second day. I filmed the footage January 21'st and 22nd. It was some of the biggest waves to hit Hawaii that year. With the Canon 5D Mark II, since it does pictures as well, I've uploaded some of those I took while there. I flew to the island of Molokai, it's a Hawaiian island next to Oahu. The canoe race itself is across a huge ocean channel, and it took around 5 hours for these athletes to canoe from one island to the next. I was blown away by the fact that they didn't stop at all, in the least bit. For each canoe racer, a motor boat had to follow next to them just to make sure they didn't get lost in the ocean, and someone from the motor boat would have to jump in the ocean and throw the canoe racers a water bottle as they got thirsty, since they had no time to stop. The race was the World Champion solo canoe race, so people from all over the world came to be a part of it. It was an awesome experience to experience it all. We filmed this video up in Butterfield Canyon near Herriman Utah, and a neighborhood called The Cove. The canyon looks extremely beautiful right now due to all of the fall colors! We recorded all of the video, then from the ones that had good sound we custom designed sound for ones that the audio quality that wasn't so great. By far our most complex edit. The equipment we used consists of the following: 3 Canon T2i's 1 Canon T1I 1 Nikon D3100 2 Gopro HD Hero cameras 2 Kodak Playsports This video was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, rendered out at 1080p. As stated earlier this was our most complex edit. It consisted of about 20 hours of editing. We used time lapses, we needed to conform all 720p video to 1080, and color corrected like crazy. Very cool bike jumping in alpine Utah. This project was especially cool because of all of the aspects that went into making it. All of the footage was filmed over 3 different days in August. It was filmed with 2 kodak playsport point and shoot cameras @60fps, a Nikon d3100 DSLR camera @30fps, an iPhone 4, and a GoPro camera. All footage was edited in Adobe Premiere Pro, and Sony Vegas. The tube you see attached to it, that goes into the water, goes into a gas powered small boat that follows whenever the jet pack pilot is flying (if you look close in the video you can see it). The jet pack itself is super safe. It's actually approved for the water by the coast guard, and there is nothing illegal about it :) You need to be at least 18 years old to fly it. It takes about 30 minutes to an hour of training, and then you're set. These water jet packs are going on sale very soon, and you can contact the company to get on their waiting list. You can contact them here www.jetlev.com And you can find out a lot more about them on the website. The jet pack is able to fly purely by the volume of water that comes out of the two hoses that are attached to it. It shoots out 10 times more water volume then a fire hydrant does.
