The Movie Show Online interviewed Director Dito MONTIEL about his first feature film. Set in Astoria, Queens and based on Dito MONTIEL's memoirs of the same name, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints explores the life of a group of mid-eighties youth, centred around the young MONTIEL (Shia LaBEOUF). Now a successful writer, the mature MONTIEL (Robert DOWNEY Jr.) is summoned home by his mother (Dianne WIEST), to attend his sick father (Chazz PALMINTERI). The journey home, after a 15 year estrangement, brings memories both good and bad, of the many friends who didn't make it and the many angels who helped MONTIEL survive and journey forth.
