Scientific Tuesdays - How to Make Breakaway Glass (Sugar Glass)

Ever wondered how they have such cool effects in movies where glass is shattering? Well, typically these effects are based on household sugar. We make make our own crude homemade version with some common household ingredients. For this demonstration you will need the following items: 3 1/2 Cups of Sugar 2 Cups of Water 1 Cup of Corn Syrup 1/4 Tsp. of Cream of Tarter Candy Thermometer If we boil the mixture up to about 300 degrees F, we can then pour it into a mold and create an awesome shattering effect just like the movies. How to make your own Breakaway Glass (Sugar Glass)

Look down for more info on Breakaway (Sugar Glass) ⇓ How to make Breakaway (Sugar Glass) The whole idea of Breakaway or Sugar Glass revolves around the concept of "Supersaturation". Saturation is the degree something is dissolved into another substance. For example, the saturation of salt into water is 38 grams of salt into 100 grams of water (38% saturation). This is the maximum amount of salt that water can hold. So supersaturation would mean the saturation is higher than 38% saturation. If you heat the mixture to 212 degrees (F) then the saturation is increased.* As the mixture cools down, the saturation decrease and the is more excess salt. The mixture is unstable and can now crystallize. The same applies for the Breakaway Glass. As the glass cools the sugar crystallizes and hardens. * If you heat up water, it turns into steam. This is caused by the molecules speeding up and becoming farther apart. The more heat you apply to the water, the more space in between molecules there is. This leaves more room for Solutes (the substance dissolved by the water)

Ezria Fanfiction - CTY - Episode 47 - Hello, My name is A!!

But that wasn't where it ended. After church I was of course drained. I was happy, feeling a peace I never had before. But then again freaked out over it all. But I didn't even know what freaked out meant until I saw a blond pony tale around the corner of the apartment hall way when Ezra and I walked up to our apartment. It was Amy. Amy Marshells. She had a letter in her hand, and was sliding it under the doorway. At first I was about to lose it, screaming to the point where im sure someone would end up hurt. But then I took a deep breath. "Amy? Your back?" I asked acting happy to see her. Then I saw a look of horror on her face. The letter she was holding, had the letter A on it writing in red lipstick. She knew at this point I knew. After feeling my face turn as red as the stupid lipstick on the front, I did lose it. I was yelling at the top of my lungs. Screaming words so loud and violent that could have gotten me arrested. Ezra was physically holding me back from hitting her. "DO NOT talk to me that Aria! I know EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU." "You are SUCH a horrible person Amy!" I yelled trying to break away from Ezra. He had an arm wrapped around my waits and the other around my shoulder. "I'd be careful if I were you Aria. I can RUIN your life." "SHUT up Amy its OVER. Your done!" "Aria I am going to BREAK YOU. I am going to RUIN your life." "So let me ask you this, why'd you send me that knife? Why would you want me dead? wouldn't it be so much more fun to do it YOURSELF ...
