This video shows some of the tricks I have been working on recently with Kiko and Splash. Some of the more interesting ones are, teaching Splash to look left and look right, teaching her how to skip, and how to shuffle backwards in a bow. Kiko started offering a tap dancing behavior which I captured, as well as scratching with her back feet. I also taught Kiko to go between Splashes legs as I saw a Boston Terrier do in the movie Hotel for Dogs, and thought it would be very cute to teach. Splash however, looks stressed as you can see, when kiko works too closely around her, because Kiko usually will boss Splash around if she is too close to her. All these tricks were taught using clicker training and no forms of positive punishment (meaning me saying No! or eh eh! Wrong! Or any physical manipulation)

This is an advanced dog trick for any dog that has some experience working with a positive, marker-based style of training. It has been made popular partly from being seen in a number of movies. By breaking the trick up into manageable little parts, any dog can learn it so long as they are set up to be successful throughout the various stages highlighted in this video. However, I must say that that it requires an extensive amount of slow & patient training and can take some dogs weeks to master. NOTE: I do not suggest using anything other than scotch tape, because if the glue is too strong it can be an unpleasant experience for the dog...which is not what dog training is about!

Watch Vinny Love perform some of his trick stunts. I rescued him from a high-kill shelter with dog aggression issues, and have been training him myself for the past 2 years. I didn't raise him from when he was a puppy. In fact, I know nothing of his history. He's not purebred. And he didn't have the perfect manners, in fact he had aggression issues! However, with training, he was able to transform into a great dog with wonderful manners. Another dog trick that was created by Solea and inspired us to organize it into a cued behavior. It may not be very practical in actually cleaning your dog's paws, but it's cute and a lot of fun to teach. Most dogs will pick up on this relatively easily. Teaching a dog to do tricks and fun/silly behaviors has countless benefits. Whether the goal is to promote stronger obedience or help the dog become better at learning, teaching tricks will develop and strengthen a lifelong bond between a person and their dog. An advanced dog trick that is sure to impress! The more that we teach a dog, the better that dog becomes at learning. This is a fun trick that any dog can learn to perform. Sadie is a 3 yr old Shih Tzu, she has very long eye lashes and can do various tricks like sit, speak, turn, roll, play dead, stay, high five, shake and kisses on command. Cohen turns a year old this month! To celebrate I put together this video of the various tricks and behaviours she's learned. She's the most easy to train dog I've ever known -- the only thing holding her back is me. At this point she knows roughly 60 separate cues and behaviours. Everything you see here has been achieved using a clicker and positive reinforcement. Cohen wants to learn, and she's great at it. Now that she's one year old she's starting to calm down a bit -- we only have to walk her 3 hours a day, as opposed to the 6 we used to while she was in the midst of her crazy puppy stage. As awesome as Australian Shepherds are, they definitely do not fit everyone's lifestyle.
