I made this long dress for my niece, who had a gala in Vienna. I started with a beautiful Dior dress (from Fall/Winter 2010) as inspiration, but with the color and the long skirt it took quite a different turn :) It took me about 25-30 hours (I did not record everything because there was a LOT of handwork), the material costs were 50 euros (65 dollars). HOW-TO: 1.I took my bust, waste, hip and thigh measurement and divided them by 4. This will be columns. (add a few inches for seem allowance) 2.I cut 4 pieces from green polyester and blue satin. 3. I sew the satin pieces together by laying two pieces together, right side facing each other. 4. I did the same with my green polyester pieces. 5. Then, I sew the satin and polyester together by laying them on top of each other, right side together and sewing the sides up. (leave a gap at the bottom so I can turn the whole thing inside-out. 6. Turn it inside out so and close up the whole in the bottom. 7. Fold the garment in half and pin. Sew along the pin line. 8. Cut one of the column in half and sew on a zipper.
