Romney's Drywall Lie and Jobs Under Bush Vs Obama

Via Paul Krguman of The New York Times: "So Mitt Romney gave a speech at a closed Ohio drywall factory, which he tried to use as a symbol of Obama's economic failure. The symbolism was perfect — not as an illustration of Obama's failure, but as an illustration of just how stupid Romney thinks we are. Even regular reporters noticed that the factory in question closed under, yes, George W. Bush — a fact Romney failed to mention, although his campaign scrambled to cover for him afterwards...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down, including a comparison of job losses and growth under President Bush versus President Obama. *Read the full article here: krugman.blogs.nytimes.com Subscribe to The Young Turks: bit.ly Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com The Largest Online New Show in the World. Chinese Drywall Florida | Remove Chinese Drywall Florida

A short video giving the average florida homeowner some quick tips on how to determine if their home has chinese drywall and what to do next. www.chinesedrywallflorida.org Hello, I'm Brian Tetro and I'd like to demonstrate using this home that is currently under contruction, where to and what to look for when searching to see of your home has chinese drywall. First of all there is a rotten egg smell that is sometimes masked by an air conditioner or other odors in your home that you get used to. All drywall appears to be the same from the room side looking at it, but the hidden side could have a label that says it was made in China. Complicating matters even more, not all drywall made in China is bad. Your home can have a few pieces of the bad drywall that was installed because they took it from a home the was currently under construction down the street at the same time as your home was being built. One of the easiest ways is to look for corrosion on the Air Conditioning coils. You can also look at the ground wires and any silver, chrome or other metals in your home to see if there is corrosion on those as well. If you find chinese drywall in your home, more than likely you are going to have to vacate your family and all your furniture from your home. At that point all the drywall, insulation, HVAC, wiring and other items need to be removed from your home. The attic trusses need to be washed because the rotten egg smell has penetrated that part of your home. The rest of ...

Drywall Finishing Tips for a Level 5 Drywall Finish

Lowe's and USG show you the easiest way to achieve a level 5 drywall finish. A level 5 finish is the best possible finish you can apply to drywall. It equalizes porosity, so that each paint coat will be absorbed equally and smoothly. First, prep to a level 4 finish. Make sure your walls have no imperfections or tool marks and that you've applied 3 coats of compound over all fasteners, tape and bead. Skim Coat Start by mixing your all purpose, conventional weight joint compound with water until it has the consistency of a heavy pancake batter. Roll the mixture onto the wall, making sure the roller is well covered, so there are no dry spots. Take most of the mud off with your knife, leaving only a thin film that will equalize porosity and wall texture. Don't cover too much area at any given time, so that it doesn't start to dry early. Let the surface sit overnight and sand lightly before priming and painting. Things to know about skim coats: - more traditional - time-consuming - preferred for smaller jobs -softer than primer-surfacer - more porous Spray Application For larger jobs, spray application is the smarter method. It is fast and easy to cover a lot of area. The finish is hard and more durable. The finish gives the appearance of higher quality, because it self levels. To apply a primer surface with an airless sprayer, start by covering all windows and trim that you don't' want sprayed. Wear a mask or respirator, goggles, and safety gloves. Hold the gun perpendicular ...

How To Drywall - Finish Sanding Final Touch-Ups

For more tips and tutorials visit: www.ehowtodrywall.com Hi guys its been awhile since I posted on howtodrywall.co because I've been moving into a new house yay :) All moved in now ... so were gonna move on today to finish sanding final touch-ups. To sand the touch-ups which we have applied in the previous steps, were gonna need a brand new sponge. You need a new sponge which as a rough side that's not warn down too much, you need the rough side to remove the edges of the touch-up. If you use a sponge that's to doll, the edges of your touch-ups will not blend good with the old mud, its will leave a little lump there, which we call an island. We use the 885 sponges from trim-tex which are dual angle sponges meaning they are cut in an angle on both side of the sponge, this sponge also has a soft side and a rough side. Make sure you use your Designers Edge E-233 Deluxe Incandescent Trouble Light to see every little details you need to sand, the 100 watt frosted bulbs are the best bulbs for this job. So we marked all our touch-ups before with big lines and we used tint in our mud so we don't miss any. Find a touch-up and start with the sides of you touch-ups, sand them down with your sponges until the look like they are blending with old mud, then rough down the middle a little if needed, just the the bad area. Then flip the sponge over and use the soft side to give the entire touch-up and nice smooth finish sand, move your light around the touch up to make sure everything is ...

Instructions : Step 1 : Prep the wallboard -- tape it, sand it, paint it, california knockdown hides inperfections on the board, but not a lot. It has to be near perfect or you will see it. If your texturing only your ceiling, make sure that you have all you walls poly'd and tape off. Step 2 : Preparing your mud -- For a California Knockdown you need thick mud to spray on the ceiling. But the mud that comes from the box is too tight, so we have to add water. Mix in1 or 2 liters of water, depending on how old you mud is. Mix the compound with a mixing drill, by hand would not remove all the lumps. Different joint compound do come in various forms, instructions on the side usually explain how to use that specific kind of compound. Step 3 : Preparing the Texturing Machine -- Hook up and unroll the hoses, hook up the hopper / spray gun and set up the nozzel size. You want to be using a large size nozzle for your knockdown, since you want to apply lots of texture on the ceiling or wall. One man drywall installation on ceiling

Shows how one man can install drywall on a ceiling using a simple, inexpensive jig. No need to buy or rent a drywall lift. Hanging sheetrock on a ceiling can be a challenge for even two men but this technique makes it almost fun even when you hang the gyproc yourself. Telescopic paint roller handles are used here but any equivalent deadman would work just fine. Google "drywall deadman" to find out more. The ratcheting cargo bar (or jack) is essential for this technique to work properly. This kind of cargo bar is generally used to secure loads in pickups. Harbor Freight Tools and others sell these for about $20.00. The main jig though is the adjustable (telescoping) closet rod - these can bought for $4.00 or so. Of course any kind of plastic pipe that will fit loosely over the rod will work fine - abs is used in this video. If you are working with 12 foot drywall simply use two closet rods appropriately spaced.

How to install drywall to the InSoFast Panel.

www.insofast.com Installing gypsum wall board is one of the more difficult tasks when remodeling a basement. This video is intended as a simplified guide for the homeowner, and not a guide for the professional. A sheet of ½" drywall weights 54 pounds and can be difficult to maneuver down a flight of stairs. In our application we chose to pay extra and had our supplier, Miller Drywall delivery the drywall to the basement. Here we are setting a wood board in place with just 2 screws supporting the drywall until we can securely fasten it with the all-purpose drywall screws for wood. Professionals prefer to set drywall sheets horizontally it reduces the taping and sanding. Install the fasteners into the drywall following their standard recommendation for 16" oc frame construction. InSoFast's interlocking co-polymer stud is very strong and has the equivalent strength of attaching to a 20 gauge commercial steel stud. An Independent laboratory, Stork Twin City Testing Corporation, confirms that a single screw embedded into the InSoFast stud can easily handle the sheer or vertical weight of 5 sheets of drywall. www.insofast.com
