Midwinter was released in 1989 by Maelstrom games and considered to be one of the most influential games around. It combined First Person Shooter with Role Playing and Strategy elements too. Although the game was a critical success, the learning curve was very steep, and no-one would know what to do unless they had the instruction manual on hand. The game covered 160000 square miles in what could be described as "nuclear winter." My review: Well, for the time it certainly looks impressive. Unfortunately, the control system does seem a bit botched. You have the choice of 3 control methods, and god help you if you pick the joystick. If there isnt one plugged in, you are screwed. When you switch to a different control method the one you originally picked ceases to function. I picked the mouse as the instruction manual recommended I use it. The training phase is certainly fun, although I do have a mixed reaction with the modes of transport: Skiing: Perfectly responsive, although can be slow going uphill unless you have your finger pinned on the left mouse button. Hang-Gliding: Seriously, WTF? Snowmobile: Definitely the fastest, and perfectly responsive. Sniping: No fire button? I seriously did not understand the campaign one bit. Syncronised watches?? The reason I had to crash into that church was because there was no button to quit skiing, except the training mode which is X. Score: 7/10, it certainly showed the world what it was capable of and was really impressive for the <b>...</b>

UFO was released on December 31, 1993. The game was Turn Based Strategy and you took the command of creating a base, filling it with soldiers and weapons and hunting passing aliens. Failure to take down these UFO's would result in Terror Sites, which are incredibly unlikely to scrape through with no civilians killed. My Review: I really like this game, except its incredibly difficult. Seriously. Im playing this on Beginner and its impossible to survive with basic units. Thats why Sarah Reynolds 1-4 will kick ass. My score: 8/10. Great atmospheric music, great gameplay, and that kickass interception stage.

The final part! Sorry about the video, Fraps had a heart attack once I reached Toytanic 2, so I saved the footage and did Toytanic 2 on a separate playthrough. For some reason though, WMM makes 720p WMV files smaller than native 720p AVIs... For those of you Re-Volters out there who may be thinking why I chose Toyeca for Gold and Platinum, its because it is hands down the best car in the game. Its not the fastest, but its 4WD handling is fantastic in this game considering its high top speed and acceleration.

Just flicking through my classics, I stumbled across Diablo. Diablo was released in 1996/1997 by Blizzard Entertainment, the game primarily bases around going deeper and deeper into a church which has been overrun by demons. Along the way you will find items and gain experience to help you with your quest. This game was an epic bugger of a difficult game, but it is still enjoyable to this day.

Uplink was Introversion Software's very first game, and involved you hacking into networks to steal or destroy data. System Shock was made by Looking Glass Studios in 1994. The game was one of the first FPS RPG's to introduce the concept of Survival Horror. The basic plot was that a rogue AI called SHODAN has taken over Citadel Station and its up to you to stop her after your capture for hacking into Trioptimum. My review: I love this game. It is sheer genius. The control is perfectly natural, you can choose how you want the game to play, and it has that creepy atmosphere you get from most Survival Horror games: Dead Space doesnt count :D Score: 9.6/10 for being sheer epic.

OKAY! READ HERE! HERES THE SOLUTION 1. Download Security Task Manager from www.neuber.com/taskmanager/index.html Run the program, and if you have the virus it will be up at the top of the processes list with a high danger level. The legit csrss.exe process will be at the bottom, certified by microsoft. Click on the malicious csrss.exe process at the top then delete. It will remove the virus and stop personal informaion being sent to the bastard who sent you it. 2. Download the Unlocker tool from ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/ With this application, you can detach files from processes. Since the virus doesnt want to be deleted it hatches onto a windows process to stop it being removed. Navigate to C:/WINDOWS/Config and the virus will be there. Right click the malicious file, and using Unlocker detach, kill and remove the file. If it is causing you bother by stopping Explorer.exe running at startup, follow the advice given by opening regedit from Run and setting this registry value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\winlogon\ Set the 'shell' variable to "Explorer.exe" (with quotes) Thanks 401Stargazer! :)

If you were to compare the quality between SoundBlaster Pro and Gravis UltraSound, it would take the lead. In this video I test the capabilities of the soundcard of playing the song "Ghostbusters" as a midi file. Although theres no singing, it does sound pretty impressive for a midi file. This application is called playmidi.exe and found in the Gravis Ultrasound drivers folder. Once you initialise the card through DOSBox with GUS emulation enabled, you can listen to your typical midi files except they sound more awesome.

Im not sure what its called, but it kicks ass! The reason I needed to use DOSAmp for MPU-401 version is because the MPU-401 sound isnt emulated during video capture. I had to manually record it through Audacity and export as an mp3. Cant do Gravis Ultrasound as it doesnt work for the HMI program. Which one is your favourite? Personally, id go for the General Midi (MPU-401) version, even though it doesnt emulate bass :(
