DW Goes to Washington: The Reads go to Washington, DC over a holiday vacation. They tour the popular landmarks and at the White House, DW separates from the tour group and meets the President. Arthur's Mystery Envelope: Mr. Haney gives an envelope to Arthur to give to his mom. Arthur is worried about the contents of the envelope, thinking that it is about him, so he comes up with a way of giving it to his mom without her opening it. The envelope turns out to contain Mr. Haney's tax documents.

The kit he plays in this video is not his custom kit, but one of many he tried that day in search of his ideal custom drum look and sound. The kit in this video is: Vertical Zebra Exotic Candy Black Fade with Black Nickel Hardware. 18x23 (VLX), 9x10 (VLT), 10x12 (VLT), 14x14 (X), 16x16 (VLX), with 6.5x14 Straight VLT Snare. All kit audio in this clip was recorded with the Zoom H4n handy recorder form about waist high and about 8 feet in front of the bass drum. Arthur's Tooth: Arthur has a loose tooth, but he is the only one in his class that has not lost any of his baby teeth yet. He unsuccessfully tries various ways to get it out so that Francine would stop calling him a baby. Francine, later, unintentionally knocks Arthur's tooth out. DW Gets Lost: DW wants earrings because her friend, Emily, has earrings. She asks her mom and dad, but they claim her ears will turn green. After DW's persistence, Mrs. Read takes DW shopping for earrings only if she approves of them. While at the superstore, DW wanders off when her mom is distracted. Lost, she runs into Emily, whose ears have turned green. Emily directs DW back to her mom, who has not noticed that she left. DW no longer wants earrings.

John Good brings you into the DW Assembly Line to show you how he suggests tuning your drums, regardless of the brand. He tunes 3 different types of drums: Tom @ 0:40 Snare @ 5:14 Bass Drum @ 10:52 John says it best, but to summarize the key points: -Always do one head at a time -Before tightening the tension rods, push hard on the center of the head to "seat/center" the head. You'll hear it crackle, but don't worry, you're not damaging the head. Only breaking it in. -First use only your fingers to tighten the tension rods, tightening opposing rods so that the head seats flat and even. Similar to how you'd tighten lugs on a car wheel. Alternating in a criss-cross pattern. -Once all the rods are finger-tight, it's time to use a key. A couple turns on each, still following a criss-cross pattern, is all you should do per round. Each time you complete a full circle, it's good to listen to where you're at. -Now, each time you complete a round, is when you really do fine tuning. Lightly tap your finger about an inch from the edge of the drum on each rod and listen to hear which rods are higher or lower in pitch from the rest. This is the hardest part, because it takes a very critical ear (that most guitar players don't even have ;). You'll also find that if you come across a rod that is lower than the rest, the one directly across from it is probably also lower. It's good to think of them in pairs. -Continue making rounds with a couple turns on each rod, followed by a round of <b>...</b>

Arthur's Baby: Arthur and DW's mom is pregnant with their baby sister Kate. Arthur is nervous, wondering what it would be like to have a new baby in the house. When the baby does come, he is worried that the baby hates him, as she always seems to cry when he is around. It is not until Arthur is forced to babysit that he realizes how wrong he is. DW's Baby: Arthur tells DW how she acted when Kate was born, starting after Kate was brought home for the first time in "Arthur's Baby". DW is excited but frustrated when she does not get to help with Kate. Kate's crib is moved into DW's room but DW soon finds drawbacks to sharing a room with a baby. DW's Library Card: DW learns how to write her name to get her first library card. She also learns about borrowing books. Arthur's Big Hit: Arthur punches DW on her arm for tossing his model airplane (that he worked on for a long time) out the window and mistaking it for a real flying plane, but ends up feeling what DW feels when Binky hits him on a dare. NOTICE: "Arthur's Big Hit" was the first episode of Arthur to be rated TV-Y7 in the United States because it features Arthur hitting DW on her arm. However, it continues to air today on most PBS stations.

Arthur's Tooth: Arthur has a loose tooth, but he is the only one in his class that has not lost any of his baby teeth yet. He unsuccessfully tries various ways to get it out so that Francine would stop calling him a baby. Francine, later, unintentionally knocks Arthur's tooth out. DW Gets Lost: DW wants earrings because her friend, Emily, has earrings. She asks her mom and dad, but they claim her ears will turn green. After DW's persistence, Mrs. Read takes DW shopping for earrings only if she approves of them. While at the superstore, DW wanders off when her mom is distracted. Lost, she runs into Emily, whose ears have turned green. Emily directs DW back to her mom, who has not noticed that she left. DW no longer wants earrings.
