I'm not a pro pilot but after questions about making some videos how to setup planes and helis on my DX8 i finaly did the work. I left out to tell that Throttlecut shuts down the engine and is used for Nitro/gas engines. Throttle hold is used for electric and nitro. Hold makes engine just idle on nitros and cuts power for electric engine. These two settings must be asigned to different switches. You don't wanna cut your nitro engine during autos. I can confirm that the DX8 has 1800' range with FPV. I was lucky with my DX7 getting 3000' as most DSM2 radios get about 2000-2500' range. The DX8 started having telemetry alarms at 1400 so 1500 is max safe range....in my test. I pushed it being new to the radio and thinking I could go at least 2500 since I was in the middle of nowhere. I was wrong. Update: The DX8 has a 85mw module and the DX7 has a 105mw module so that explains the less range. I wounder why Spektrum went with less power on the DX8...no matter I have a booster on mine now. Update: Spektrum has recalled this radio. It's a POS!!! No Risk or threat to the ancient goeglyphs as they are hard as Concrete and people drove over these looking for them up to the late 1970's when the fence was finally erected. Harsh Desert storm conditions haven't done much to them either but people vandalizing them with smiley faces are the biggest problem.

This is a terrible radio. For a complete run down of the hazards that I have discovered, see: z8rc.blogspot.com Then search the web for a parade of bad reviews, documenting crash after crash caused by this dog. Others have posted that Spektrum customer service denies anything is wrong--but I cannot get them to pick up a phone, they have gone into hiding. Stay away from this defective radio.

** Update: My DX8 got replaced with a new one. That's good Spektrum service. After quite some time, Spektrum announced publicly that several DX8 have compatibility issues with AR6110, AR6200, etc. Since I fly the new DX8 with AR8000 both in my 550E and 700E I'm happy with it. Brand new DX8, brand new problems :-( The problems do normally not show up immediately so it was difficult to recognize. But my DX8 has critical issues with the transmission signal and/or the antenna. Anytime it may be interrupted which leads to a crash. Because it still works sometimes and I didn't recognize the problem sooner, one helicopter already crashed because of that until I found the problem which is documented in this video. The problems occur with all three Spektrum receivers AR6100e, AR6200 and AR8000 that I have in my B400, T-Rex 550 and T-Rex 700. With a DX6i, all receivers work flawlessly so it's the Tx that causes it. The problem may occur any time during range test or flight. I found a way to reproduce it by moving the black antenna frame of the transmitter slightly. Probably, the antenna itself or the transmission board is broken. I'll send it in now. Test setup: - DX8 with AR8000 and flight log telemetry - DX8 updated to firmware v2.01 - Simple battery/BEC/servo test without heli - Range test in only 10 meters distance fails and produces many (several hundred) antenna fades and many frame losses within seconds (see display at end of video, sorry for the bad video quality on youtube <b>...</b>

This is the first flight using my new Spektrum DX8 transmitter. I've been waiting for this transmitter since the middle of 2010 when I first heard rumors about it. I've even held off on assembling my E-Flite Bonanza so I could use the telemetry on the DX8. It was worth the wait. Being able to setup servo delay timing for the flaps on my Radian Pro was excellent. I look forward to doing the same on my T-34 and the Bonanza. I have many, many flights on my 120 but like I said this is the first flight on the DX8. I received the transmitter, downloaded the latest version of the software (1.4 in my case), bound the transmitter to my Blade 120 and flew it with no problems. I have to say I waited to get my DX8 because of the initial reports I heard of people having problems. I have around 30 models and I didn't want to put any of them at risk. Now that I have it, I love it. It's added a whole new level of enjoyment of this hobby for me. I have a DX5e, a DX6i and a DX7. The DX8 should be and is the best of them all.

This is my Blade mCP-x helicopter. Flying over the ground was fun so I decided to challenge myself even more with a flight over the pool. At one point the mCP-x takes a dip in the water up over the landing skids and battery. Not recommended but it was fun! It was 116 degrees this day so I'm sure the mCP-x appreciated the cooling effects of the water.

This is a video of by Blade mCP-X micro helicopter flying in Stunt mode. I'm not a Stunt pilot yet (I got the mCP-X to learn with) so the flight consists of hovering, slow forward flight and circuits around the gym. I have two mCP-X's which I fly with a DX8 transmitter. The mCP X is a great little helicopter that has been trouble free for me (both of them). I also like the DX8 a lot.
