Eames Era (Mid Century Modern Design Today) Mid-Century modern is an architectural, interior and product design form that generally describes post-war developments in modern design from roughly 1945 to 1965. Mid-century architecture was a further development of Frank Lloyd Wright's principles of organic architecture combined with many elements reflected in the International and Bauhaus movements. Mid-century modernism, however, was much more organic in form and less formal than the International Style. Scandinavian designers and architects were very influential at this time, with a style characterized by simplicity, democratic design and natural shapes. I was on a roll today with videos and this idea just kind of came to me spur of the moment. Definitely could have done better but it's alright. I'm content with it for the couple hours I did on it. Story: I think of this as a back story before Inception. Arthur and Eames are seeing each other, everything is going well until Eames starts to stray in the fear of being tied down. Arthur sees Eames and another male at a party and storms out. Eames gets back to their apartment and they fight. Arthur leaves and they stop talking to each other. I recently scored huge on CL and got an original late 1950's produced Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman for very little cash. I wanted to restore it and bring it back to life...right now the leather is in a restoration company, but I wanted to show you how to make your wood look alot nicer. In this Video I have already cleaned the wood and got all the marks/scrapes and other gunk off. (alot of work i may add) So now I am simply adding a layer of TEAK OIL to it too bring out the contrast in the beautiful Rosewood that has faded over the past 50 years. Youll be surprised how nice you can get the wood grain to look without spending big bucks on refinishing it, also when refinishing it, it will devalue... so by doing this your keeping original finish but adding to the woods life.
