Early Detection of cancer

Despite the progress in existing treatments for cancer, chances of survival are low once the tumor has begun to spread. In many cases, early detection of the illness and early treatment enable prevention and even a complete cure. The definition and classification into the different risk levels of tumor is made according to a mix of a large amount of data, including -- complaints or suspicious signs, medical history, family history, exposure history, genetics, living habits, origin and age. The Hadassah Medical Center has participated in an international research study which recently revealed that an annual low-dose CT scan can detect lung cancer in its earliest stage in 85 percent of patients. Highly sophisticated imaging tools are used to detect the colorectal cancer. The specialist of Hadassah University Hospital are using the high tech technology including the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography to detect the breast cancer at women.

Early Cancer Detection Saves Lives

(Sacramento) -- Early detection of a cancer can mean the difference between life and death. The statistics show the stark reality: Only 19% of ovarian cancer is currently diagnosed in Stage 1, when there is a five-year survival rate of 92% for women who receive treatment. Instead, most women are only diagnosed when they have progressed to Stage 3 (24%, with a 42% five-year survival rate) or even worse, Stage 4 (25%, with only a 17% five-year survival rate). With those numbers and the lives behind them in mind Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Sally Lieber (D-San Jose) has introduced Assembly Bill 1774, which will expand cancer screenings for women to include ovarian and uterine cancer tests. Assemblymembers Kevin de León, Mervyn Dymally, Karen Bass, Felipe Fuentes and John Laird have already signed on as co-authors of AB 1774. Here's more in this Assembly Web Report.

Electromagnetic Simulation of Microwave for Early Detection of Breast Cancer

www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org www.emfnews.org Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases among women, which will not only harm the health of women, but also hinder the development of social. Therefore, it has great significance to study and develop the related technology in theoretical and practical. Near-field microwave probe of the disease has getting great attention in medical imaging profession all over the world. Under the influence of microwave, normal breast tissue has much different with malignant tumors in the field of dielectric constant and conductivity. This feature is the physical basis of the detection of breast cancer tumors in the Near-field microwave. The main contents of this paper are the following: (1) Research on the technology of UWB (Ultra Wideband) and analyze the microwave imaging system. (2) This paper used the three-dimensional electromagnetic simulation software CST MICROWAVE STUDIO (referred to as the CST MWS, Chinese name " CST Microwave Studio ") to structure modeling of breast tissue, through research on the electromagnetic properties of the breast tissue under different conditions, and the results show that it is feasible in theory to use the UWB microwave technology based on near field imaging method to detect early-stage breast cancer tumors. www.rescancer.com (3) Considering the actual situation of early breast cancer detection, this paper not only introduces several microwave testing imaging technology, but also discusses the ...

Patent Approved for Eyebeam Detection Device

Patent paves way for development of devices controlled by human electromagnetic field DALLAS, October 12, 2010 -- Noted psychiatrist and author Colin A. Ross, MD (www.rossinst.com), whose research into a new science and medicine focused on the human body's electromagnetic field is described in his book, Human Energy Fields (ISBN-13: 978-0-9821851-0-0), has received approval for Patent #7806527 from the US Patent Office (www.uspto.gov). The patent can be accessed by clicking here. Dr. Ross' device can detect the brain waves emitted through the eye using an electrode that makes no physical contact with the body. He calls his invention an Electromagnetic Beam Detection System, the result of his discovery that the eye emits electromagnetic energy that he calls an "eyebeam." "We will now develop a prototype device that can detect a human stare from a greater distance, similar to a motion detector or sound sensor," said Dr. Ross. "Such a device could be used to turn on a light, or any other electrical device, from a computer to a garage door opener to an entry system. It would work like a clapper light activated by clapping your hands, except that the signal would be the electromagnetic energy beam emerging through your eyes." Once a working prototype is available, Dr. Ross will identify a manufacturing partner. Dr. Ross proposes that the sense of being stared at was selected for during predator-prey interactions. TEDxVancouver - Yael Cohen - Using the F-word to battle

Yael Cohen runs a cancer charity that she founded in 2009 when her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Astounded to learn that over 90% of cancers are curable in stage one, Cohen realized that early detection is our only cure right now and that we should be looking for cancer instead of just finding it. Her charity targets Generation Y in an effort to engage them in the important dialogue about early detection; with a clear call to action to involve, engage, and educate their parents. The movement aims to create a generation that puts an END to late stage cancer diagnosis. About TEDx, x=independently organize event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self- organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. www.cancer.org "At this time, there is no guaranteed way to prevent breast cancer, which is why regular mammograms are so important. Early-stage breast cancer typically produces no symptoms when the tumor is small and most treatable. It is therefore very important for women to follow recommended guidelines for finding breast cancer at an early stage, before symptoms develop. American Cancer Society guidelines for the early detection of breast cancer vary depending on a woman's age and include mammography and clinical breast examination. Numerous randomized trials and population-based screening evaluations have clearly shown that early detection of breast cancer through mammography greatly improves treatment options, the chances for successful treatment, and survival.103-105 Mammography is the single most effective method of early detection, since it can identify cancer several years before physical symptoms develop. Treatment is more successful when cancer is discovered early. Mammography is a low-dose x-ray procedure that allows visualization of the internal structure of the breast. Mammography is highly accurate, but like most medical tests, it is not perfect. On average, mammography will detect about 80%-90% of breast cancers in women without symptoms." 36x36 Oil on Canvas By: Amanda Delight Come join me at adelight.ning.com its my new social network I created for artists and art lovers to post pics, videos and even live chat with myself and others. Roselle Dental Center-Detecting Cavities With DIAGNOdent

www.roselledentalcare.com Tooth decay is caused by a variety of things; in medical terms, cavities are called caries, which are caused by long-term destructive forces acting on tooth structures such as enamel and the tooth's inner dentin material. With conventional instruments, it is generally not possible to probe drop-shaped fissures. DIAGNOdent has the great advantage of detecting caries in the very early stage by measuring the laser fluroescence within the tooth structure. Which means you will get extremely precise results without x-ray exposure. www.roselledentalcare.com

Ryan O'Neal has Prostate Cancer

Actor Ryan O'Neal has been diagnosed with cancer, nearly three years after long-time love Farrah Fawcett died of the disease. The Love Story star, 70, said he was "shocked and stunned" by the news that he had early-stage prostate cancer. The disease has been detected early, and doctors have told him he has a good chance of making a full recovery. O'Neal said in a statement: "Recently I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. "Although I was shocked and stunned by the news, I feel fortunate that it was detected early and according to my extraordinary team of doctors the prognosis is positive for a full recovery. "I am deeply grateful for the support of my friends and family during this time, and I urge everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defence against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many." Ryan fought leukaemia in 2001, supported by Charlie's Angel Farrah but, while he was in remission in 2006, she was hit by cancer.
