Jefferson Airplane - Embryonic Journey

Surrealistic Pillow Studio album by Jefferson Airplane Released February 1967 Recorded October 31, 1966 -- November 22, 1966 Genre Psychedelic rock, folk rock Length 33:40 Label RCA Victor Producer Rick Jarrard Jefferson Airplane's fusion of folk rock and psychedelia was original at the time, in line with musical developments pioneered by The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas, and Bob Dylan. Surrealistic Pillow was the first blockbuster psychedelic album by a band from San Francisco, announcing to the world the active bohemian scene that had developed there starting with The Beats during the 1950s, extending and changing through the 1960s into the Haight-Ashbury counterculture. Subsequently, the exposure generated by the Airplane and others wrought great changes to that counterculture, and by 1968 the ensuing national media attention had precipitated a very different San Francisco scene than had existed in 1966. San Francisco photographer, Herb Greene photographed the band for the album's cover art. Some controversy exists as to the role of Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia in the making of the album. His reputed presence on several tracks is not corroborated by RCA paperwork and is denied by producer Rick Jarrard. But when performing Comin' Back to Me live with Jefferson Starship, Marty Balin almost always introduced the song with a reference to the Surrealistic Pillow sessions, mentioning Garcia as playing the guitar parts on the original studio version. Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cells

From their humble beginnings in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Sepultura went on to become the most successful Brazilian heavy metal band in history. Over a ten-year period, the band grew from strength to strength, transforming itself from a primitive death metal ensemble into one of the leading creative trendsetters of the international aggressive music scene. Unfortunately, a bitter internal crisis almost destroyed the band, and Sepultura struggled to recover their previous momentum. ________________________________________ Land of anger I didn't ask to be born Sadness, sorrow Everything so alone Laboratory sickness Infects humanity No hope for cure Die by technology A world full of shit coming down Tribal violence everywhere Life in the age of terrorism We spit in your other face War of races World without intelligence A place consumed by time End of it all We're born With pain No more We're dead Embryonic cells Corrosion inside - we feel Condemned future - we see Emptiness calls - we hear Final premonition - the truth Land of anger I didn't ask to be born Sadness, sorrow Everything so alone Laboratory sickness Infects humanity No hope for cure Die by technology We're born with pain Suffer remains We're born with pain Suffer remains We're dead

Irv Weissman: Differences between Adult and Embryonic Stem Cells

The simple term "stem cell" actually refers to many different types of cells. The tissue-specific stem cells, or adult stem cells, replenish tissues throughout our lives. Embryonic stem cells exist only briefly in early development before tissues begin to form. Irv Weissman discovered the first tissue stem cells and has helped develop new treatments for disease based on these cells. Weissman has CIRM grant to push embryonic stem cells to form blood and heart muscle stem cells, which could be powerful tools for treating diseases of the heart or blood system. Weissman is Director of the Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine Institute, Virginia & DK Ludwig Professor for Clinical Investigation in Cancer Research, and Professor of Developmental Biology at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Carcass - Embryonic Necropsy and Devourment

From the 1989 album Symphonies of Sickness. Enjoy! Lyrics: ...Aborted gestation...foetal mutilation... ...Abortive secretions...embryonic fermentation... Your crotch spawning afterbirth A congealing sprog basted in cess Palpitations spew a foetus Sprawling in this mess... Flowing lochial discharge Of copious womb lining torn The mutilated still-born mangled By the whiplashing umbilical cord... Mixing together post-natal juices The dead infant used as stock Slurping this horrendous concoction Eat the cervical slop... Lading our aborted derbis Oozing guts chomped in your maw The caesating premature baby Nurtured in post-partum gore... Suck cess on a plate. lick its pus from a spoon Gnaw at rashes on a dish, munch on the expelled womb... Its testicles incised - the foetus liquidized Whick the parasite - the gross remains baptized... [Solo: paturient paste sandwich] Stagnant placenta and smelly fluids The stiffening dead babe's crib Disembowelling and gutting Grating bone and rib Fragile limbs pulverised Dismemberment is so cruel Soggy organs and paturient broth Give piquance to this sickly gruel... Mixing together post-natal juices The dead infant used as stock Slurping this horrendous concoction Eat the cervical slop... Lading our aborted derbis Oozing guts chomped in your maw The caesating premature baby Nurtured in post-partum gore... Drink bile from a cup, gulp its phlegm from a pot Eat mucus on a saucer, choke on embryonic clots... (Pasteurised foetus goulash)

Jefferson Airplane - Embryonic Journey

en.wikipedia.org The acoustic instrumental 'Embryonic Journey' composed by Jefferson Airplane / Hot Tuna guitarist Jorma Kaukonen originally appeared as the ninth track on Jefferson Airplane's second album Surrealistic Pillow but has been often anthologized, and multiple takes were released as an album also entitled 'Embryonic Journey'. According to the album's liner notes Kaukonen composed the tune in 1962 as part of a guitar workshop in Santa Clara and included it on 'Surrealistic Pillow' at the band's behest. This song has been used in the final Friends episode (entitled 'The Last One'); in the movie The Rookie during a montage scene, in the movie 'Berkeley in the Sixties' at the end with the credits, and recently in a UK television commercial for Norwich Union. The track was Kaukonen's first composition to appear on an album; and subsequently became his signature song at live performances.

Catapilla - Embryonic Fusion [1/3]

(24 minutes this one so you may want to buckle up) Short-lived, powerful and very experimental, Catapilla mixed psychedelic jazz with progressive rock and got very interesting results. I like 'em a lot. Superb sound. Also, Anna Meek (vocalist) brings me to another world each time I hear her let loose a filling roar of passion. Simply delicious.

Discovering Religion: Ep 16 - Embryonic Stem Cells & Capital Punishment

The sixteenth installment of my original series, "Discovering Religion". In this episode I discuss the current actions of Christian Americans to suppress modern-day scientific advancements. In particular, I address the movement by Christians to outlaw embryonic stem cell, a stance they have no justification from the Bible in taking -- a situation that very closely parallels the Church's suppression of Roger Bacon and Galileo Galilei's scientific discoveries. Additional information I could not include in the video: Diabetes: Giving insulin to children with Type I Diabetes is a viable means of treating this disease, however; after 15-20 years of living with type I diabetes, the danger continues to grow, possibly leading to kidney failure, heart disease, blindness, brain damage, and premature death. This is why stem cell research is so crucial to patients suffering from this serious condition. Bone Marrow Transplants: There are many patients, both child and adult, in need of bone marrow transplants that would greatly benefit from the use of stem cells. For 2/3 of them, there is no donor with an acceptable genetic match. However, even when a match is found, it is never perfect. With stem cells, doctors could grow cells customized to the needs of the patient. On a personal note, a good friend of mine mentioned that his best friend in high school needed a marrow transplant. Each one of his friends volunteered for the test to see if they were compatible; however, an acceptable ...

8/10 www.youtube.com If you're patient and attentive, the new Flaming Lips LP will not disappoint. It's much more raw, experimental, and free than their previous couple albums, and a lot of people are loving the direction this LP is going in. However, this album isn't mind-blowing when it stands alone--still very experimental and adventurous, though. www.theneedledrop.com Support TND bit.ly Subscribe to our podcast: bit.ly Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com

Mark Mercola: Differentiating embryonic stem cells into adult tissues

A major challenge in developing stem cell-based cures for disease is maturing those cells into adult cell types that can be used for transplantation or to study human disease. Dr. Mark Mercola has a CIRM grant to derive heart muscle cells from embryonic stem cells. These cells could one day be used for transplantation, for testing new drugs for side effects on heart muscle cells, and to learn about how the heart cells mature and develop. That knowledge could lead to new drugs to help the heart repair itself after a heart attack. The band originally formed in 2007 as Inflikted but changed its name for legal reasons. The group's creation marked the end of a 10-year feud between the Cavalera brothers, who founded Sepultura in the early 1980s. They remained together in that band until December 1996, when Igor, guitarist Andreas Kisser, and bassist Paulo Jr. suggested to Max that the band cancel its contract with his wife and manager Gloria, saying she paid more attention to him than the band. Disagreeing, Max decided to leave Sepultura. Human Trials of Embryonic Stem Cell Treatment Beginning

Researchers in the US western state of California now have government approval to begin the first human clinical trial of a treatment derived from human embryonic stem cells. The scientists will test a therapy that is designed to regenerate nerve cells in people who have suffered spinal cord injuries. The trial, however, has a limited goal of assessing the safety of the treatment. Still, Rachel Silverman reports for VOA, approval for the trial from the US Food and Drug Administration breaks what had been a significant barrier to stem cell research.

Paul Knoepfler: Tumor Formation in Embryonic Stem Cells

One hallmark of embryonic stem cells is that they cause a particular type of tumor called a teratoma. Stem cell researchers must learn how to prevent these tumors before any transplantation-based therapy can be successful. Paul Knoepfler has a CIRM grant to study how and why the cells form tumors and to help understand ways of preventing those tumors from forming. He is an assistant professor of cell biology and human anatomy at the UC, Davis Institute for Regenerative Cures and is associated with the Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine at Shriner's Hospital for Children Northern California.

The Human Embryo and Embryonic Stem Cell Biology: Spotlight on Stem Cell Research

On December 15, 2010, Renee Reijo Pera, PhD spoke to the CIRM Governing Board about her research studies of the human embryo and embryonic stem cells. Using time lapse video of the embryo's initial cell divisions, Pera's lab identified parameters that can accurately predict human embryo viability. These findings could improve the success rate for couples trying to have children through in vitro fertilization as well as reduce the number of embryos used in the procedure. Pera is director of Stanford's Center for Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research and Education. She was introduced by Robert Klein, chair of the CIRM Governing Board. She has a Comprehensive grant ( 1.usa.gov ) and a New Cells Lines grant ( 1.usa.gov ) from CIRM.
