This is a clip of the Shaolin Temple scene from The Empty Mind Documentary. These warrior monks are students of Monk ShiDeYang, one of top Shaolin monks and who we will see in later clips I will post. This scene is not strictly in the Temple, but like most monks they train just outside Shaolin Temple itself.

A trailer for a new documentary release, The Last Clan. This is a story about the Chinese Hakka community - who cling desperately to their close-knit clan living, where families live together in large rammed-earth homes called Tulou. The families share a common name and ancestor, and some homes can number 300 family members of 3 or 4 generations. But how does the clan survive when all the young members start to leave and head for the city? Many have already left and return back to the Tulou only at festival time. Some have even left their wives or husbands behind. To survive, the last remaining residents turn to tourism to attract money and so bring their sons and daughters back home. This is Japanese archery on horseback known as Yabusame (流鏑馬). This was filmed in November 2009 at the Meiji Shrine, Japan. Yabusame was created as archery practice for the Samurai, to sharpen their skills during peace time. It is said by some historians that the warriors would also use dogs as target practice, called inuoumono and like Yabusame, the arrows were padded so few dogs were actually hurt. Our upcoming new release in July is CHEN VILLAGE, a story that revolves around life in Chen Village, China and Chen Family Tai Chi. There are 3000 residents in Chen Village (Chenjiagou) and 2500 practice Tai Chi Chuan on a daily basis. Almost ninety percent of the residents bear the Chen surname. In this feature length film we explore the growing number of Tai Chi Chuan followers from abroad that descend upon the village and how the Chen style and the generations of the Chen family have survived China's turbulent history to make Chen style popular all over the world. A fact mainly attributed to 19th generation grand master Chen Xiaowang. It is a fascinating look into rural village life and Chen Village's claim to fame as the birthplace of Tai Chi Chuan.

World Wushu Championships 2010 by Empty Mind Films
This is the World Traditional Wushu Championships 2010, which took place in China at Wudang Mountain (in Shiyan City) in October. We put together this overview of the martial arts championships. Quite a large number of countries competed including a small USA team. Empty Mind Films was there filming part of an upcoming film release about one of the competitors from Shaolin. The event was not actually open to the public which is odd, so I am not sure how tickets were dispersed. We did see a number of friends from Wudang Mountain which was nice.
