Press the physical Menu button on the bottom left. Settings - Location & Security - Set Up Screen Lock - Pattern - If it is your first time, the phone will show you a short tutorial - Draw unlock pattern- continue - Draw pattern again to confirm - Confirm - and you're done. Next time you turn on your screen, it will come up with the pattern dots. Notice you can still dial 911 by tapping the emergency button for the dial pad. It will not allow you to dial regular phone numbers. If your phone rings, you can accept calls without unlocking.
