The Hoops travelled to Sligo hoping for a win to keep them in contention at the top of the league. After going behind to Sligo in the first half thanks to the header from ex-hoop Eoin Doyle, Rovers fought back to win what turned out to be a contentious game, thanks to a red card foul, an "england"-style goal and a good tackle in the opposing penalty area. In all three cases the ref made the correct decision, but it was enough to leave the Sligo fans, who did not have the benefit of being able to watch the footage through in slow-motion immediately, feeling somewhat aggrieved.
