This took me about a month worth of practice over the course of hundreds of runs, and even then when I finally got a no-death run it was on a practice run where I had a stupid death earlier in the stage, but I'm uploading this anyway. Flandre's attacks are more heavily based on randomness than normal, including where she moves, so sometimes she'll just refuse to get shot on attacks like kagome kagome and starbow break. I got maybe a slightly worse than average random roll here, prompting me to do some fun dodging. Keep an eye on the maze of love capture. You can do this by learning JUST when to tap left. It's pretty intense, but it saves time and lives in the long run. Besides that, everything is just about perfect until "And Then Will There Be None?" where I avoid making a hard dodge and bomb due to having a severe case of the stomach butterflies. I pull it together for QED though, enough to stay alive with my remaining bomb stock. Enjoy!

A video of me fighting and barely defeating the sister of the devil herself, Flandre Scarlet Flandre Scarlet (Is kind of an epic name) is the ex-boss of the game Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, the 6th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touhou Project is a series of danmaku shooters. Danmaku is a term than can be loosely translated (and quite aptly in my opinion) into "curtain of fire" or "bullet hell", thus denoting game were high density in bullet is more important that a lot of enemies. The series was created and is managed by the one man team Team Shanghai Alice, composed only of ZUN. Flandre is a pretty interesting character. Her wings aren't those of a normal vampire, yet you can clearly see them flutter which means they are real... more or less. She's mentally insane (or so they say, is more like very eccentric personality), yet that kind of make her a lovable character. And her existence is full with symbolism and references. Ok, maybe I exaggerated symbolism, but it does have references. She's the first Ex-boss of the Touhou series Window games and makes it clear WHY she is an Ex-boss. Personally I believe she isn't using her full danmaku potential. Most Ex-bosses show their non-danmaku abilities in their fight one way or another. An ungodly amount of luck is of the essence - there are just too many points where undodgeable shit can spawn: * The ring-shooting fairies have a tendency to crash into you from the side (though it rarely happens with ReimuA) * Sakuya's non-spell walls you in 1 out of 3 times * Eternal Meek is basically panic-dodging while praying not too many bullets come into your path simultaneously, which 3 out of 4 times, they do * Young Demon Lord at max rank can completely wall you in with no escape if you're unlucky * Vampire Illusion throws massive walls with no conceivable way through 1 out of 3 times * Scarlet Meister is Scarlet Meister (Starting at the right of Remilia is actually a pretty good strategy - it half-trivializes the first two waves) * Scarlet Gensokyo: see Vampire Illusion, except with added massive bullet clusterfuck Too bad you can't save replays in practice mode in EoSD. ;_;

So I found this 3D touhou game somewhere, probably linked on /jp/. It's actually pretty well made overall, the patterns are quite faithful in spirit to the original ones with interesting conversions to 3d. The hitboxes could use some work, though. It's kinda hard to tell where the bullets are in relation to you. But still, so much fun. And that Remilia first card... And yes, the music does actually get louder while Sakuya stops time. Kind of strange. Search Google for kouma_3d for this version, should be the first result. There's also a version 0.90 with stages including an extra stage, but I'm not quite as fond of that as this. Chuugoku?) is the Stage 3 boss of the game Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, the 6th installment of the Touhou Project. The Touho Project is a series of danmaku shooter created by some abstract concept our simple minds came to simply recognize as ZUN. Anyways, Hong Meiling is a youkai that works as the gate keeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. She's also one of the most mysterious characters in the series. When you think about it, it is never implied in canon what species of youkai she is. This would make her some generic youkai, which is a species we normally see on absurdly strong youkais like Yukari and Yuka. And Parsee, who isn't exactly a walk in the park. And Rumia, who sports a Slasher Smile while killing you if you believe in Ex-Rumia. Die if you believe =/ The most common theory is that Meiling is a dragon youkai, which, once again, would mean she's absurdly strong. Another interpretation I read was that she's simply a gate keeper, as in she's a youkai born to be that. Interesting, but I like my characters to be Mary Sue-ish. No matter what she is, the general notion stays that her forte isn't danmaku. This means that while she's so-so in a danmaku <b>...</b>

Any given EoSD game begins at rank 16. As one progresses without dying, Rank slowly increases to a maximum of 32. When dying, Rank is decreased by about 20, to a minimum of 0. The difference in difficulty between minimum and maximum Rank (in this game anyway) is drastic. This run was done with the Rank variable frozen to 75. It was never meant to be that high, so almost everything about this run is insane. Patterns are either ridiculously fast or strangely broken. A few aren't affected much by the change in rank.

Except Aya and Murasa. They are black sheep. Originally, I wanted to do this Lunatic run with Marisa. Later on I switched to Reimu B. I ended with Reimu A. Why? Yes, it was to make my life easier, but it wasn't because I found using homing amulets easy. I dislike homing amulets and while I recognize they are an immense help, I prefer sealing needles. The reason I switched to Reimu A was because of one woman: Patchouli. Fukkin. Knowledge. Between stage 3 and stage 4, the games makes a great leap in difficulty, turn to face stage 3 and burn it with a flamethrower to secure no influence whatsoever. To put it simple, Patch here is HARD. NINTENDO HARD! I forgot how many times I died before I could even get her stage down. And to make matters worse, her spell arsenal changes depending on what character you choose. So, we have an asthmatic armed-to-the-teeth witch with spells worth four different magicians. Ultimately I found that using Reimu A results in the easier combination of spells with the added bonus of homing amulets. And by easier I mean less <b>...</b>
