This video is a poorly made and patronising attempt at helping you get the scope onto the tripod correctly and to align it using the 2-star method. Before you start, you must have entered the date and time into the handset along with your location. Instead of choosing your nearest city, use Google Earth to get your location's coordinates. No contest really with just 1/800th the light grasp but still good fun. Tried reimaging DSOs [initially taken during lunchtime session via autonomous 2m Faulkes telescope in Hawaii in full colour] with my backyard Meade ETX-70 in mono - results amazing for such a tiny scope but obviously Faulkes wins hands down. My ETX-70 OTA piggybacked/ guided via my Meade LX200 [not patio pic as shown].

This is a 70mm achromatic refractor belonging to Meade ETX line. It is mounted on a dual fork mount and includes computer controls in the form of the #494 autostar. It is probably the least expensive "goto" telescope on the market, but it is quite noisy, so if you are planning to use it during the night meanwhile your wife is asleep, you better start thinking about divorce ;-)

I started building these ETX Camera jod mounts in april of 2010. Without this metal plate, you cannot enjoy the full extent of your Meade ETX telescope. This plate is the only way to comfortably view 100 percent of your optical magnification, via digital camera. For best results, use a digital camera that has a lcd viewing eyepiece and a minimum of 10x optical zoom, attached to a lcd projector or HDTV. This mount is compatible with ALL meade etx telescopes, I have tried it with every model. The build process has minimal variations. It is also compatible with just about every camera on the planet. If this was a standard feature on all future meade telescopes, astronomy would become an internet viral. ENJOY!

The surface of the Moon from my front garden. Iam new to all this and this is my 1st attempt at videoing the surface of the Moon though my newly aquired Meade ETX 90 Telescope. The pictures were taken using a Celestron NexImage CCD Solar Imager,. A few dust specs on the lens,.but not bad for a 1st go,.i think,. Let me know your thoughts...

Another succesful attempt to find and record Venus in broad daylight in the morning sky with my 2nd ETX-70 equatorially mounted [but undriven here!] from my backyard. When touched the mount is shaky but with the Fuji E550 camera 'floating' above the eyepiece fair results obtained. This especially so in the video extracted stills showing Venus approaching dichotomy or 50% phase.
