cazillo.com Ever wondered how your camera's exposure works? How to get the really shallow depth of field or stop a long jumper in mid flight? Read on! If you would like to improve your photography then you absolutely must know this, backwards, forwards and upside down. One day it should 'just click' and you get it, but until then watch this video a lot until you do. Your camera does a great job of calculating the exposure with its built in light meter, BUT it has no idea what type of photograph you want to create. I mention in the video in my mind's eye I create photos in aperture priority, then transmit those settings to the camera. As you may know my primary subject matter is portraits and I prefer to have a shallow DOF (Depth of Field) and then set everything from there. ISO should be as low as possible, but not at the expense of a sharp image with a slow shutter speed. The magic number in shutter speeds is 1/60th of a second, which is usually fast enough to capture people standing still without any motion blur and will also keep camera shake to a minimum.

After nine months of work Exposures golden child has been born. One for the Books started out as nothing when all we wanted to do was to make a video showcasing good jumps in Halo 3's Campaign. None of us were expecting this video to blossom into the great video it is today. Jumps were tried over and over until landed or deamed impossible. Listening to the same AI's saying the same things after every restarted checkpoint. Going to set up a check point 10 minutes into a game only to realize the chieftain had a flare instead of the invulnerabilty. But, alas the checkpoints we managed to get have beared the fruit of our labor. From starting as a clan full of randoms, to releasing Kats with a Hammer, to the release of our main video One for the Books, our team has come a long way. Now, please enjoy the video that all of us have spent many days and nights on in order to make Halo 3's Campaign shine brighter than it ever has in jumpings past. Flash photography is a skill not many try to master. Its like people just don't want to learn it and just muddle through with their camera and flash on auto. I'm here to tell you: its super easy!!! The basics of flash exposure: Shutter speed affects ambient light only ISO and aperture affect ambient light AND flash Flash distance, power, and modifiers all change its output. When you understand that concept its easy. If you want to adjust the flash change ISO, aperture, flash power or flash distance. If you only want to change the ambient light in the scene then adjust your shutter speed. I have all my students start out in manual exposure mode with the flash on manual too. That way you are controlling the flash and learning how it works, not just getting by.
