I wasn't expecting my original real EAS test to go over well enough to get close to 5000 views, and I saw so many people upload their own fakes, so I decided to make a very convincing fake myself. First, I got the tones and made a fake voice announcement with Microsoft Narrator set to Microsoft Mike, using "Telephone Quality" in Sound Recorder. Then, using MSPaint, I made a card with white computer letters on a red background. The font I used was "Glass Gauge". Fixedsys looks too much like DOS. After that, I put it in Windows Movie Maker with the sounds I made before. I added ten seconds before the sounds began to get everything ready for the TV. Finally, I loaded up the resulting video into Media Center and set my PC to output to TV. After hitting play, I waited about 7 seconds and then plugged the other end of the TV-out cable into an RF modulator hooked up to a TV set to channel 3. After it was over, I quickly unplugged the wire. Shooting it with my digital camera, you would never have known it as a fake if I didn't throw in the last bit. "Northern County" is a ficticious county. I did not know the exact format of what the guy says, so I just randomly threw in everything I remembered from what I heard on the radio. Hope you enjoy it. It took a lot of thinking to make this.
