If you wonder why the people and Farinelli are so sad when he is singing "Lascia ch'io pianga", is because the translation is "Let me weep over my cruel fate, and that I long for freedom" (en castellano es "Déjame que llore mi triste suerte, y que añore la libertad")

Vivica Genaux sing the aria for Farinelli: Qual guerriero in

This aria was written for Farinelli (Carlo Broschi) by his brother Riccardo Broschi. I upload it only for study because I am very interesting in the Vivica Genaux's phonation skill and appearance of mouth. You can see her lips oscillate rapidly like hexapod's wings and her mouth shows botchy "crying-face", but the voice is most wonderful. Genaux's skill is different from Bartoli's. Thanks!
Farinelli: Ombra fedele anch'io

This study video is NOT presented for the voices. First, the merged countertenor and soprano voices are not the high quality of an Andreas Scholl, Maria Cristina Kiehr, or a Gundula Janowitz. Second, Their imprecise technique, breathiness, phrasing, scooping, and vibrato are contrary to the qualities required of this castrato aria written by Riccardo Broschi for his brother Carlo. What this soundtrack does demonstrate very clearly is the expected Baroque style of added ornamentation and performer interpretation departing from the basic ABA musical score, especially in the da capo section. A keyboard / vocal transcription is provided along with the audio track so that the viewer can perceive those departures from the score, especially in the repeated theme. sfkcbf Idaspe, by Riccardo Broschi (1698-1756). Farinelli - Forgiven (Within Temptation)

A tribute to a movie directed by Gérard Corbiau, with Stefano Dionisi and Enrico Lo Verso, which I loved from the first vision. The movie is about the life of the most famous castrato singer of 18th Century, Carlo Broschi, known as Farinelli, and his relationship with his brother Riccardo, famous composer. I wanted to give an idea of the tormented and somewhat morbid love between the two Broschi brothers, in which much is to be forgiven and much actually is. That's why I chose Forgiven by Within Temptation for it, I think it fits perfectly (obviously adapting the interpretation ^^). In the end I decided to add also the starting and final clips, with the original audio. I think the final result is an AMV which really tells more about this movie than I could ever dream to be able to tell... ^__^ Well, I like it, enjoy.

Pergolesi - Salve Regina - The soundtrack of Farinelli

The soundtrack of Farinelli, which features the recreation of the castrato voice using a digitally 'morphed' mixture of a countertenor (Derek Lee Ragin) with a soprano voice (Ewa Mallas Godlewska) was directed by Christophe Rousset, director and founder of Les Talens Lyriques and a celebrated harpsichord soloist.

My favorite scene from the movie.Edited detail by me. Farinelli,Il Castrato [1994] A film about the life and career of Italian opera singer Farinelli, considered one of the greatest castrato singers. It stars STEFANO DIOINISI as Farinelli and was directed by Belgian director Gérard Corbiau. Farinelli (January 24, 1705 September 16, 1782), was the stage name of Carlo Maria Broschi, one of the most famous Italian contralto and soprano castrated singers of the 18th century. [and, in all likelihood,he was the last famous castrated singer. At the end of the18th century, castration has been prohibited.]

Farinelli Il Castrato HQ - COMPLETA (Sin censura) [sub. in different languages]

Ombra Fedele Anchio - from the opera Idaspe" ("Farinelli" film soundtrack)

An incredibly beautiful piece of music, Ombra Fedele Anchio from the opera Idaspe, written by Ricardo Broschi (1698-1756) for his younger brother, Carlo Broschi , the castrato known as Farinelli. This version is from the soundtrack to the film Farinelli. For the film, the castrato voice was created by digitally blending the vocal performances of a countertenor and soprano, Derek Lee Ragin and Ewa Malas-Godlewska (a kinder and gentler way to produce the castrato sound!). This music is heart and soul-piercing. A great movie if you like this kind of stuff. You can find many clips from the film on youtube.
