The film "It's Kind of a Funny Story" was critiqued for incorporating gimmicky sequences that distracted from the main story line, such as an animation sequence (which is really cool by the way), and the "music video" shown in this clip. Personally I thought these departures made the film more interesting and added humor. This particular clip is also interesting for another reason: it is used to show the character played by Keir Gilchrist discovering (while in a psych ward) that he has a remarkable singing ability. What is especially interesting is that he does so without signing a single note himself. Initially, the patients, participating in a "music therapy" session, start hammering out an amateurish version of "Under Pressure". Then it blends into the original song by Queen and David Bowie, with the actors all decked out in outrageous costumes, and we never hear Gilchrist sing at all. Watch The Godfather Trilogy ► 1001movies.net The new transfers for The Godfather Parts I and II are stunning. It really is like seeing them for the first time. All of the murky, faded colors have been restored to their original glory while still retaining the warmth of the film stock. Gordon Willis' then-controversial cinematography can finally be seen they way it was intended on these new discs. If you have the original box set, it is worth it to double dip if only for the restoration job on these two films. Carried over from the original set are all of Francis Ford Coppola's commentary tracks for the three films. On The Godfather one, he appropriately enough, starts off by talking about the film's famous opening scene and how it was supposed to start with the wedding but a friend suggested he do something else. Coppola talks about how he organized the elaborate wedding sequence and shot it only 2-3 days! He talks about the pressure he was under by the studio and in read danger of being fired because they didn't like what he was doing. This is pretty solid track that we've come to expect from the veteran filmmaker. Coppola's contributes another excellent commentary for The Godfather Part II. Initially, he had no interest in doing a sequel and dealing with studio bureaucracy. He suggested Martin Scorsese for the job. The studio balked at this idea and accepted all of Coppola's terms. How terribly sad that the famous 39-pound cat Meow has died, but did his recent fame and slew of television appearances ultimately kill him? A cat that got national attention for tipping the scales at 39 pounds has tragically died. The Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society said today that the orange and white tabby named Meow died over the weekend, likely from complications from his morbid obesity. Meow, who was between two-years-old, was taken to the shelter last month after his 87-year-old owner could no longer take care of him. The shelter put Meow on a diet and posted all his weigh-ins on a Facebook page that got national attention.
