USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG-49)

The staff of www.corpidelite.info visit the USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG-49). The USS Robert G. Bradley (FFG-49) was in Malta for a port call over the Easter weekend of April, 2009. The USS warship has been travelling around Africa since November 2008, providing training workshops in safety and security. Earlier that same week, the Bradley conducted a series of at-sea Search and Rescue (SAR) training exercises as part of an expertise-sharing project with the Armed Forces of Malta (AFM) to support the Maltese SAR and maritime security capabilities. As part of the training, several members of the AFM Air Wing and Malta Sea Cadets embarked the Bradley in St. Pauls Bay to observe the ships operations first-hand. The AFM personnel gained practical experience onboard the Bradley as it continued its journey to the Grand Harbour, and had the unique opportunity of spending the night onboard a US Navy ship. Commenting on the exercise, the US Embassys Chargé dAffaires, Jason Davis, said that the USS Bradleys work with the AFM supports our shared goal of keeping the Mediterranean safe for travel and trade". The USS Bradley, which is an Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate, has a crew of 215, and is commanded by Commander Clinton A. Carroll. The ship was named after Second World War hero Robert G. Bradley, who lost his life along with 108 fellow crew members during a heroic attempt to save their ship, the USS Princeton, after a Japanese air attack at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the ...

Spyderco Delica 4 FFG: "Convergence of Perfection" by Nutnfancy

I can't think of a way to improve the new full flat ground (FFG) Delica 4 from Spyderco. This grind perfects what was already a near-perfect EDC blade. Slicing capabilities with this flat ground VG10 steel blade are improved over the regular saber ground Delicas (which are still excellent). The VG10 is a superb steel choice: great rust resistance, tough, holds a fine edge, and it's easy to resharpen. In many outdoor adventures, the Spyderco VG10 steel is a proven performer with me (also used in another Nutnfancy favorite knife, the Centofante III). Expect to find a thinner blade in the Delica 4 FFG version which is a welcome feature in the EDC role; sharper and more pointed tip can perform on-scene "surgeries" better. And Spyderco continues to lead the pack in terms of cllp design and nested stainless steel liner milling. The blackened Spyderco clip is strong, rounded to prevent ripping of your pants pocket (and scratching your car door!), and is positionable to all four corners for absolute variability. This clip carries the knife deep enough to prevent loss and provides fast extraction. The liners are completely milled out for the absolute lowest weight possible while still increasing the strength of the knife (I still maintain however that SS liners are not needed in a lightweight EDC knife). The Delica 4 FFG weighs in at an impressively lightweight 2.2 ounces. Deployment speed with the enlarged 13mm hole is fast, lockup is perfection (and adjustable), and the lock ...

Byrd Cara Cara 2 G10 FFG: Affordable Quality that looks GOOD!

Sometimes sequels are good, and sometimes they're great. The Spyderco designed Byrd Cara Cara 2 folding knife is a well-built, great looking follow up that brings fantastic improvements to an already great knife. Changes include a straightened spine in place of the old, unattractive hump that kept many Byrd watchers away (including myself), also a full-flat ground blade for better slicing and great aesthetics. Subtle changes to the handle shape were also made. A new Spyderco-like package announces the great improvements, and cements a closer relationship between the parent and sub-brand. Overall, this is an affordable new knife that has won me over to the brand for good. Credit goes to thomassmyth65 for the Green handle idea. We'll see if Sal digs it.

Spyderco Endura 4 FFG: "Now Perfect" by Nutnfancy

The regular Spyderco Endura 4 is an excellent blade but in my earlier review I termed it "Slightly Imperfect." While the Sabre grind is strong I do not think it ideal and it gives the blade some unneeded extra heft and a slower deployment. Also some Enduras I've had and examined had some vertical play in their lockup. Enter the impressive Spyderco Endura 4 Full Flat Ground (FFG) version, first seen in TNP at the 2010 SHOT Spyderco booth review. Available in 2010 in the colors blue, brown, gray, green, or purple, this is a slam dunk improvement on the popular Endura. It wears the same excellent, razor sharp FFG blade I first saw in the more expensive Endura G10 version. It has outstanding fine edge characteristics, good edge holding, and good rust resistance. Slicing and food preparation capabilities are vastly improved. This FFG blade, a long time favorite of mine in many blades, also lightens the Endura 4 to a feathery 3.4 oz as well. It seems to deploy even quicker that the regular Sabre ground Endura due to this reduced mass. The tip, while a bit more delicate, is sharper and has outstanding penetration capabilities (and great belly). In about 8 models examined, all showed solid lockups as well and the vertical play is gone. Jimping is perfectly executed on the thumb ramp. The bi-directional texturing on the FRN handles is effective and the nested stainless steel liners are about as milled out as possible and set standards of excellence in this vein. They, along with ...

Spyderco Delica 4 FFG - Edged Supremacy!

A review of the Spyderco Delica FFG Blue. The blade of this knife is a FFG grind and I really dig it! I like the blue color of the handle and it is very grippy. The pocket clip like most Spyerco's is movable to all four corners of the knife. The knife rides a little high in the pocket, but the clip works well at keeping the knife in place. The price of this knife is about $50 if you can still find it! Overall a great knife and a good value. Get it while you can!

Spyderco Delica 4 FFG

Out of all of the knives in Spyderco's line the Delica is one of the highest and best selling knives. It is hard to find a knife with as many positive features on todays market as the Spyderco Delica 4 FFG. The Delica 4 FFG has a 2 7/8 inch long Full Flat Ground blade and comes razor sharp from the factory. The opening hole is large enough to be used for simple EDC tasks and also lends it self well for use with gloved hands. The FRN handle has BI-Directional texturing which is great for use when wet or dry and provides excellent traction. Spyderco provides full stainless steel liners which are skeletonized to reduce weight. The contour of the FRN handles is very comfortable and fits your hand like a glove. The pocket clip is 4 way reversible for tip up/down and left/right hand carry. The Delica features a Lock Back locking system to provide exceptional lock up and reliability under hard use. The Spyderco Delica 4 FFG weights in at only 2.3 oz which is a great carry weight for EDC. Overall, I think anyone would be hard pressed to find another knife that provides as many great characteristics as the Delica 4 does. For the money and quality the Spyderco Delica 4 FFG is an amazing knife. Get one while you can.

It's been a while, the weather is just beautiful so I wanted to have a little fun with a water bottle. I am using my new Spyderco Endura 4 with the Brown FRN handle and the FFG blade. These new Endura 4 knives come really sharp. So sharp it could split the hair off a Boars Tit! Enjoy!
