Fugitive Futurist: A Q-riosity by "Q" (1924)

An oddball inventor startles Londoners with images of the city's future. This witty short proffers futuristic visions of London landmarks by way of a 'magic' camera. But while its gleeful inventor turns out to be an escapee from the local asylum, French director Gaston Quiribet may not have been entirely barking up the wrong tree with one of his trick shots - which imagines Trafalgar Square flooded by rising sea levels. Could this be a prophetic glimpse of our great capital's fate?

Well, song is so epic. I just hope that video is as good as song. ** I put a few scenes where she is crying between 0:24 - 0:30 not because I wanted it to look good. But just because I felt some kind of emotions when rythm was like that. So I had to put those scenes.**

Old London Street Scenes (1903)

Traffic congestion in Edwardian London. Made over 100 years ago, this footage shows a number of scenes shot around central London, taking in locations such as Hyde Park Corner, Parliament Square and Charing Cross Station. We see crowds of people disembarking from a pleasure steamer at Victoria Embankment, pedestrians dodging horse-drawn carriages in Pall Mall and heavy traffic trotting down the Strand. There are plenty of famous landmarks to spot here, including Big Ben, the National Gallery and the Bank of England, and it is fascinating to see the similarities between the customs of then and now - the dense traffic (mainly horse-drawn, with the occasional motor car) is highly reminiscent of today's London rush hour, while advertising on public transport is clearly no new phenomenon - in one scene, an advert for Nestlé's Milk seems to be plastered on every other vehicle.

FACELESS Trailer

DVD now available www.ambienttv.net In a society under the reformed 'Real-Time' Calendar, without history nor future, everybody is faceless. A woman panics when she wakes up one day with a face. With the help of the Spectral Children she slowly finds out more about the lost power and history of the human face and begins the search for its future. FACELESS was produced under the rules of the 'Manifesto for CCTV Filmmakers'. The manifesto states, amongst other things, that additional cameras are not permitted at filming locations, as the omnipresent existing video surveillance (CCTV) is already in operation. directed by Manu Luksch, voice over: Tilda Swinton, soundtrack: mukul, piano music: Rupert Huber, www.ambientTV.NET

The Shaping of Things

Created for the Sci-fi London 2004 film festival - make a short film based on a comic - competition. Which it won! Based on the 2000AD futureshock story 'The Shape of Things', it's a controversial science fiction epic, that asks questions about an imagined intelligence behind human evolution and its ultimate aims. It also features an exploding shed that did not, in anyway, explode. More info at: www.too-many-monkeys.com

Open Road Media: Josephine Hart

"I never start until I have the last line," explains Josephine Hart, international bestselling author of DAMAGE and SIN. Born and raised in Ireland, Hart has written six novels and an anthology of poetry. Her provocative work explores themes of betrayal, obsession, and desire by probing beneath the veneer of our interactions and into the darkest recesses of the mind. Her spare prose and brutally honest scenes make her books unforgettable. "You want that character to stay forever. You just can't get rid of them," she says. Watch Hart explain more about her craft and the influence of her childhood on her writing.
