Tutorial: Terminal Commands in Ubuntu Linux
~Read description~ Here are all of the commands I entered in the Terminal. If I missed any please let me know. ls-lists all files in directory cd (Directory Name)- changes to the directory entered. cd .. or cd / - brings you back to previous directory, brings you to the very root of the system mv Filename.??? directory/new file name- will move file to specified directory/renames file to the newly entered filename cp filename.??? to directory- will copy file to specified directory rm filename- will remove specified file rm -r directory name- will remove specified directory and all its contents mkdir directory name- will create a new directory or folder in the current directory you are in. nano- opens a text editor program if followed by a text document name it will open to edit that document. also explained is the tab complete and arrow keys for history. please let me know if you would like a more detailed version of a specific command and i will try to make a video on it. If you can run the game, you should be able to record pretty good videos using it. Current tempdb location, make a note of current file location using the following code. use tempdb go sp_helpfile 2. Check and confirm that new location, where you want to place a tempdb files should be accessible by the SQL Server, this is very important step, specially for cluster boxes, this step ensures that you have added a new disk to sql server dependency list. Here I am assuming, H:\MSSQL\Data\ is a new location, where you want to place tempdb files. xp_cmdshell 'dir H:\MSSQL\Data\' 3. Check out my video on Adobe Lightroom right here! I use the Expanded Cells with filename, cropped dimensions, exposure and iso, and finally the capture date/time. Rating footer gets a ton of use so its turned on with stars, color labels and rotation buttons. Trying to answer several questions at once here in the description. For installation you have many choices depending on the version of Ubuntu you are using. I will list 4 different methods here: 1. Command Terminal Method: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal) First, remove openjdk if it's installed. To so so type: sudo apt-get purge openjdk* Next type these commands: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/java sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer 2. Command Terminal Method: Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) sudo add-apt-repository "deb archive.canonical.com lucid partner" sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sudo update-alternatives --config java 3. An easy way to do it graphically is with Ubuntu's "Synaptics" package manager tool. First, click "Update" to refresh and update your repositories. Then search for "Java" and "Java plugin". Install the JRE for the VM, JDK if you plan on developing in Java, and the plugin for JApplet and Applet access through FireFox. Check them and click "OK" to confirm and Synaptics will install them. 4. Another easy way is to go to Sun's website and download the .bin/tar file. First, goto www.oracle.com Click the "JRE" or "JDK" buttons (I install them both for development). Choose Linux86 for 32-bit Ubuntu and Linux64 for 64-bit Ubuntu. I finally got around to creating a tutorial for the JARVIS I'd set up. Watch the whole thing. --- For those who've seen it: My computer was kind of misbehaving during the filming of this video, hence all the cuts. One little note, I had to change the file name at the end, but the XML coding was right, so I just show the code I used and the file name. You can also just use MPC as the default player for all wav files and not associate it to other filetypes, but if you don't want to do that, I teach the more advanced workaround for it. --- Any questions, message me.
