In this video I play slowly an arrangement for fingerstyle guitar of the 2nd Waltz from Jazz Suite by Shostakovich that I made last winter during my short musical breaks on the couch. I repeat the theme twice, the second time the melody is one octave lower and the treble make the comping. I also play the conclusion of the theme in two different octaves, first on the high and then on the lower octave: the two ways are interchangeable and also you can play only one of them each time. This arrangement aims to create a steady valzer comping over the melody. That's why I think it may be a good excercise for fingerstyle guitarists to develope the skill to play melody, harmony and rhythm contemporaneously . This can be a good start to create more creative arrangements, in example leaving out the valzer accompaniment and adding bass runs, double stops etc. I tried to play the conclusion of the theme with octaves like Wes Montgomery, it was interesting but difficult. If you have any idea post a video response, by joining our forces we will get a good arrangement for sure, even we are only amateur guitarists! Have a fun
