In a slight re-working of the plot of the Fleischer Studios short "The Two Alarm Fire", firemen Popeye and Bluto fight over who gets the call to go save Olive Oyl from a burning house. The two get so caught-up in fighting over Olive that they are constantly neglecting the fact that she needs to be rescued, and in some instances put her in even more danger. This is one of those rare occasions where Olive has to eat the spinach and this time in order to save both Popeye and Bluto.

"The Firemen" began as a project at the Human School of Videogame Development and was one of the students project that became a full fledged game. Moments before the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in the small town of Padua, Minnesota, was about to begin, a truck fire broke out at the end of the block. Fortunately, the all-volunteer firefighting crew from nearby Sedan, Minnesota, was on hand to celebrate their 125th anniversary and to raise money to pay for their new fire hall and truck; one of their members was set to drive the city's new fire truck in the parade and the others were on a float dressed in drag to entertain the crowd. When a truck erupted in flames, people called 911 to alert the fire department that was assigned to that jurisdiction; but that crew was 15 miles away and some members of the general public were already attempting to put out the blaze with fire extinguishers, which can be exceptionally dangerous. When the blaze spread to an SUV, the Sedan crew decided to take action to prevent possible injuries as well as further damage to additional vehicles or to the surrounding fields and crop land. So the Sedan firefighters, still in drag, grabbed equipment from their truck and put out the blaze in two minutes, some of them adjusting their brightly colored dresses as they did so. Yes, it was dangerous for these firefighters to do what they did, but in my mind they are heroes.

Lake effect snow is heavy in Nov/Dec when the water temps are still warm and these Clippers blow across the long expanses of warm lake water picking up water vapor, freezing it then dropping it as snow on the leeward shores of Lake Erie especially in Northeast Ohio. The distance this cold airmass blows across the waters of Lake Erie is called "fetch" so longer the fetch -- the heavier the snow esp when you get winds blowing out of the west and you get a long fetch across Lake Erie -- this effect is called a <b>...</b>

The dash-cam video was taken from different cars & obtained from different sources then clipped together so it appears this way. These are some brave public servants indeed... YORBA LINDA -- A sequence of explosions near an electrical substation that injured two firefighters Sunday night was captured on a police dashboard camera. Two Brea police officers, in separate squad cars, were on Yorba Linda Boulevard when they saw an explosion up ahead. The officers discovered a smoking manhole and waited for county firefighters to arrive. In the video, a firefighter and a captain approach the manhole, which had already popped off, to take a peek inside With each explosion, a ball of fire shot up from the manhole. In all, there were at least eight explosions. The firefighters were treated at a hospital for first-degree burns and are expected to make a full recovery. The incident, which knocked out power to 3385 Southern California Edison customers, occurred on Yorba Linda Boulevard near Fairmont Boulevard at about 8 pm Sunday. The explosions stopped when Edison staffers turned off all of the underground equipment. Authorities were doing an investigation into the cause.

Valley City North Dakota Firemen's Convention Parade June 4, 2010
Here is the parade of North Dakota Firemen's Assn held this year in Valley City, North Dakota. The first time it was here was June 3-4-5-6 of 1902. It was last here in June of 1969. Mostly Valley City equipment showing especially Valley City's first fire engine a 1917 Seagraves that was restored in 1973. Valley City Times-Record Monday July 30, 1973 City Reclaims 1917 Fire Engine What had to be brought back to its original owners on a flatbed truck is now operating under its own power. The 1917 Seagrave Fire Truck is one again the property of the Valley City Fire Department. Used as the city's first motorized vehicle until 1948, the truck was sold in 1952 to a farmer south of Fargo. He mainly wanted the pumper equipment which he could use for irrigating. This supplied his needs for the first 10 years and then he let it stand idle in a grove of trees the last 10 years. Several of the Valley City's firemen remembered the first truck and were anxious to see if it could be found. It was located with the majority of the major parts still attached although either badly worn, rusted or much deteriorated. It was brought to Valley City in early September last fall and immediate tear-down began. Each square inch had to be thoroughly cleaned, polished and the extensive repairs were completed by the volunteer firemen. The majority of the work was done by Ed Busching and Erv Hagen and the electrical work completed by Alf Pearson. Approximately six weeks ago, a Seagrave fire truck, 55 <b>...</b>
