Adventurous and high-paying tourists are being offered the chance to make "first contact" with some of the world's last remaining uncontacted tribes. First contact with the outside world usually spells disaster for genuine uncontacted tribes. Presented by Mark Anstice, an experienced expedition leader and author of a book also called First Contact, this film looks at the complex issues surrounding the ethics of first contact and meets the people involved.

The eighth score in the franchise, and this movie would bring a much needed breath of fresh air into the series. It is arguably the best in the entire franchise, but many would probably place it second behind The Wrath of Khan. This would see the return of Goldsmith once again, and he would never leave the franchise once he became involved this time (that is until his death). The theme presented here is a bold, and somewhat nostalgic if I may say so myself. A heroic theme is what Goldsmith wrote here, and he would use it plenty of times through out the score. Also returning would be the Klingon theme and not much has changed with the theme other than the fact that the tempo had certainly been increased which made feel like a true battle theme. However it's probably best to call it the Worf theme by this time since he is the only Klingon appearing in the Next Generation movies from this point on. The Blaster Beam would make a reappearance in this score. A mutation of his electronic "Blaster Beam" in a heavy, relentless minor key motif to portray the mechanized Borg. The Borg theme is used in different ways such as with the Blaster Beam, but also with heavy brass when the Borg Cube first appears. A note should be taken that Joel Goldsmith also worked on this score because Jerry Goldsmith had run into scheduling conflicts and had difficulties completing The Ghost In The Darkness which is a fine score in itself.

The Fifth of my Re-enactment series. I'm not a trekkie, but I do think Star Trek: The Next Generation is a kick-ass show, rivaled only by its kick-ass movies (with the exception of the last one...). First Contact is a good example. In this scene, a woman from the 21st century is on board the Enterprise, which is slowly being overtaken by a race of aliens known as the "Borg." Captain Jean-Luc Picard does not want to self-destuct his ship, even though it is the only way to defeat the Borg once and for all. The woman attempts to talk Picard into doing it. This will only be funny if you have seen this movie. If not, sit back and enjoy my shitty impersonation of Patrick Stewart. Notice that I didn't even attempt to look like a woman for the other part. This is video from my first contact with the Indigenous people of the Amazon Rainforest. The first people in this video are the Bora Tribe. They are a massive tribe in the Amazon Rainforest. Their numbers are thought to be around 3000 strong. However this is a far cry from the estimated 30000 that ruled this land until the 1960's. The Bora were used as slaves during the rubber boom and almost completely decimated. They have come back and now cover the jungles of Peru and Columbia. I spent a good deal of time with these people and the Chief is quite fond of me. I have an open invitation to stay with this tribe. The second set of people. The ones wearing clothes are the Nuevo Progresso Tribe. This is the tribe I chose to live with. They have no electricity, no running water, and they survive largely by farming and hunting. These are beautiful people and I had many great experiences with them as I was learning how to survive in the rainforest. Living in the rainforest was one of the hardest things I had ever taken on. My first two weeks in the jungle were extremely uncomfortable, but as I assimilated the culture and the energy of the rainforest things began to get very clear. I found myself at complete peace.
