
Beka Economopoulos has 15 years experience as a grassroots field and online organizer, working with local, national, and international NGOs and activist mobilizations. Beka is currently the Vice President at Fission Strategy, a consultancy specializing in Web 2.0 and new media approaches to online advocacy, organizing, marketing, and communications. Prior to joining Fission, Beka directed the Online Organizing team at Greenpeace USA for four years, managing online/offline integration, volunteer management, leadership development, and online social networking and social media strategy. Beka is a senior trainer and Advisory Board member at the New Organizing Institute, the only formal training institution for online organizing in the US She is also a co-founder of Not An Alternative, a volunteer-run non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, New York, whose mission aims to integrate art, activism, technology and theory in order to affect popular understandings of events, symbols and history.
