The song was written by Harry Warren in 1934, lyrics by Al Dublin, for the movie Dames starring Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler, and later featured in the movie A Bronx Tale 1993. Played on a Bang & Olufsen Beogram turntable model RX 2. Playing through a Pioneer SX 1080 Receiver bi-amped using Magneplanar Magnepan speakers with a powerd 12" sub-woofer. B&O is about as sleek and modern in appearance as you can get with their high end ultra modern styled stereo gear, and I found this in a thrift store of all places. These turntables were quite pricey when new, and command a high price used today. The stylus and cartridge are in excellent condition.. It is very elegantly styled with as few knobs etc., as possible to not detract from its sleek clean design. The tonearm does not even have a tonearm rest, it just sits suspended in air. It determines the speed and record size by the spindle. When starting to play you will notice the record rise about 1/4 of an inch off the turntable. If it was a 12" 33RPM record the weight would keep the spindle down and it would change speed to 33 and index for a 12" record. The speed and index sizing can be overridden for odd records like 7" 33 or 12" 45 RPM. The Bang & Olufsen MMC cartridge is a sterling example of Bang & Olufsen's pursuit and execution of superior design and engineering. This turntable has the MMC5. Pink Flamingos (tag-line: An Exercise in Poor Taste) is a 1972 transgressive black comedy film written, produced, composed, shot, edited, and directed by John Waters. When the film was initially released, it caused a huge degree of controversy and thus became one of the most notorious cult films ever made. It made an underground star of the flamboyant drag queen, Divine. The film co-stars David Lochary, Mary Vivian Pearce, Mink Stole, Danny Mills, Cookie Mueller, and Edith Massey. Cara and John go to Lake Nakuru in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya which is where the earth is pulling itself apart. In another million years or so East Africa may very well be an island like Madagascar. As the tectonic plates diverge the valley gets lower creating large shallow lakes. These soda lakes attract ridiculous numbers of birds like flamingos, pelicans, cormorants, storks, and herons to name a few. There are so many birds that lake seems to disappear and you could walk on the backs of the birds across the lake without getting wet. There are loads of buffalo, gazelle, rhino, baboons, and waterbuck to see as well as the occasional hyena or black backed jackal.
