Toowoomba Flood 2011.01.10

Amazing footage of East Creek near Chalk Drive / Chalk Lane rising and washing away lots of cars during Flash Flood in Toowoomba on Monday 10 January 2011. This is some of the best footage I have seen of the Flood and was taken from the second floor of our office which backs onto Chalk Lane. It shows just how fast the creek turned into a torrent and quickly flooded Chalk Drive and Chalk Lane. I also got some video of where the creek crosses Neil Street and some video of the aftermath and the huge amount of cars damaged and piled on top of one another in the Chalk Drive car park. ***** With the incredible exposure that my video is receiving all over the internet and media worldwide I would like to encourage you to donate to the relief appeals. You can donate to the Queensland Government Appeal at: www.qld.gov.au Or the Churches of Christ Care Queensland Flood Appeal here: care.cofcqld.com.au Please pray for us. There are many people who are suffering through this. *** Okay comments are back up. Thank you for all your expressions of support for us.

Picton Floods - Febuary 2012.

Flash flooding impacted Picton on the 10th of February 2012. Several shops were flooded and the main street of town was closed. Local roads suffered damage due to flood water, a causeway collapsed and many homes were affected by flood waters. It all happened within the space of an hour. Pumping out the water was made possible due to the water coming from run off, rather than the creek level rising. We were able to remove the water from the streets and shops and pump into the creek, until the storm water drains were cleared. Fire and Rescue NSW attended with RP421, P248, P93, P87 and the Duty Commander. Apologies for the shaky cam - it wasn't attached to anything, didn't plan on having it with me.

Flooding in Burma

Hundreds of people are thought to be dead or missing after severe flooding in central Burma. As floodwaters disperse the scale of the destruction in Burma's Magwe division is becoming clear. In Pakokku more than 1700 are still in temporary shelters, many have lost their homes, their livelihoods and their loved ones. In the early hours of October 20th flood waters surged into the area, uprooting trees and houses while many were still sleeping. Domestic news are quoting the official number of dead and missing at 215. But as bodies continue to be recovered some estimate the actual death toll could be far higher. And 3 days after floods hit, towns such as Kyaukse, home of Burma's former dictator Than Shwe, are still submerged. Those who have lost their homes and families in the flood say they didn't receive any warnings that the floods were coming One woman told DVB reporters that she had seen her family swept away by the flood waters right in front of her, and said they had not been warned floods were coming by authorities. While some have been able to salvage part of their homes, swamped by the sands, some monastries and homes have been swept away completely. And although some local charities have begun a rescue effort, collapsed bridges, destroyed roads and disrupted power lines are causing difficulties. This normally dry and sandy land, thrown into turmoil in the wake of the floods, is likely to take time to rebuild. With some too distraught to return to work, and many ...

Thailand's flood waters threaten marine life

Marine life is suffering in the Gulf of Thailand, where the Chao Phraya River, which runs through the capital Bangkok, meets the sea. Following the worst flooding in the country in decades, millions of cubic metres of extra water has been draining into the gulf causing shellfish and other fish to die or swim away. At least 10000 shellfish farmers have been affected and conservationists say it will be months before they can resume their trade. Al Jazeera's Florence Looi reports from Samut Sakhon province, Thailand.

Stevie Ray Vaughan - Texas Flood (Long version!)

( www.youtube.com ) Long version of Texas Flood by stevie ray vaughn ! Texas Flood is an electric blues album by blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan and his band Double Trouble, released in 1983. Although "Texas Flood" has three verses of lyrics, the song is more of a prolonged guitar solo, allowing Vaughan to show off his characteristic electric blues style. During live shows, he would often play portions of this song behind his back, arousing an enthusiastic crowd response. Stylistically, "Texas Flood" is structured around the common three chord blues progression. Written and performed in the key of G (sounding F# because of Vaughan's tuning), it is in 12/8 time, or compound time[1], which gives it a "slow burning" feel that is common in Texas blues. en.wikipedia.org

Atacama City on Flood Alert After Unusual Desert Rains

For more news and videos visit ➡ ‪english.ntdtv.com‬ Follow us on Twitter ➡ ‪http Add us on Facebook ➡ ‪on.fb.me The Chilean city of San Pedro De Atacama is the driest place in the world. Well, that was the case before unusually heavy rain over the weekend saw rivers in the area burst their banks. Let's take a look. The Chilean city of San Pedro De Atacama is located on a plateau in the world's driest desert. But heavy rain over the weekend sent area rivers flooding over their banks and put the city on yellow alert for flooding. Chile's Loa river cuts through the Atacama Desert as it makes its way from the Andes Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. In flood, it's quite a sight for visitors. [Visitor]: "It's impressive, not something you see every day." Officials have warned residents of the small city of about 5 thousand that the water level in a number of area rivers continues to rise. Already a number of homes are affected by flooding. [Luis Garrido, Governor, Loa Province]: "The Salado River is rising because of the intense rain we had yesterday and in the early morning hours today." The city is expected to be on alert until at least Wednesday. A number of roads and highways leading to the town have been closed due to flood and possible landslide concerns. Many tourist activities have also been suspended and emergency crews are on the alert to keep them safe.

Dog Catches Fish Crossing a Flooded Road

Well, just as the title says, A Dog Catches A Fish That's Crossing The Road! LoL! Tho of course, it did happen during a flood! The answer to why salmon crossed the road in Washington state Tuesday morning may be simple: because of major flooding on the roadway, caused by heavy rain and seemingly confusing the heck out of the migrating fish (see video). A powerful storm system arrived along parts of the Pacific Northwest on Tuesday, including Western Washington, kicking off what promises to be a wet and windy Thanksgiving holiday week. Rainfall totals should reach three inches in the Seattle area before Thanksgiving Day. Wind gusts from 50-70 mph were recorded in some areas. Tornadoes and major flooding in Italy!

Slovenian storm chaser Marko Korosec chased near the city of Genova, NW Italy on Nov 4th 2011. A major flash flooding event was predicted with strong shear and high energy still in place -- unusualy ingredients for early November. (Extreme Tornado Tours guide Olivier Staiger, aka Klipsi, also chased this event from his base in Switzerland.) The event transpired with an intense stationary convective line of supercell thunderstorms over the city of Genova, droping hundreds of litres of rain which resulted in major flooding over the city. Unfortunatelly at least 6 people were killed there. On the edge of this line of storms, at least two tornadoes were observed by Marko and others, as well as a lot of intense CG lightning strikes and several wall clouds with occasional funnel clouds. For more incredible video and photos, check out weather-photos.net for more of Marko's incredible work!

Emergency sirens blared across Brisbane, Australia's third-largest city, on Wednesday as floodwaters that have torn a deadly path across the northeast poured into an empty downtown, swamping neighbourhoods. At least 22 people have died and more than 40 are missing across Australia's northeastern state of Queensland since drenching rains that began in November sent swollen rivers spilling over their banks, flooding an area larger than France and Germany combined.
