Our film looks to tell the story of Fodera Guitars. A small business, guitar manufacturer located in Brooklyn NYC. For the past 20+ years Fodera has been building instruments by hand in their small shop with a small team of passionate and dedicated builders, some who have been building since they were teenagers. Recently the company was facing closure as maintaining the demand for their instruments and managing a small business in a large city. They then partnered with one of their longtime customers to help maintain the business end of the business so they can dedicate their energy towards their instrument. The Fodera team is dedicated to building instruments individually, by hand, using old world methods. In an industry where many builders have exported their manufacturing to overseas countries as a way to be profitable and offer mass distribution, Fodera has maintained a small business ethic. Caring more about quality and customer service then anything else. In a big city such as New York, Fodera represents the success story of the "mom and pop" shop. It is more then just guitar shop but truly represents what is possible when passion meets commitment. Our documentary will be a combination of interviews with founders Vinny Fodera and Joey Lauricella and footage of them crafting their instruments. In the the interviews we are looking to discuss Vinny's journey as a guitar maker, the struggles of being a small business in NY, why the ethics that they follow as a company <b>...</b>

Fodera Slap Sounds
Many people is wondering how much punchy a neck through bass can be! My Fodera is very punchy and have a great slap sound. Take a listen. I haven't been slapping for a while, so it no near perfect :) I believe it's the second time I slap the Emperor 5. It has a high C and I find it a bit difficult to slap. Well, both basses is set flat, so that's the raw sound of them! The rig is TecAmp Bonafide amp with a Epifani 1x12UL. I used my iPhone for recording The music is from debut cd. This week at Bass Club Chicago started with a shipment from Fodera in which we received 2 Monarch 5 strings, one with a quilt Maple top and the other a Redwood Burl. The Redwood Burl jazz has dual coil Pickups and and Birdeye maple fretboard. That was followed by a Fender Limited Edition American Standard Jazz with a stained Mahogany finish. This bass has a High Mass bridge and Hardshell case. Finally we received a shipment from BAE Audio (Brent Avrell Electronics) and picked up several different preamps from his line. These are some of the best sounding preamps on the market. BAE hand wires all their circuits and use the best quality components available. Finally we unboxed a Sadowsky MV4 in a trans Blue finish and pearl pick guard. The active preamps on sadowskys are some of the best in the industry.
