TIKLOS : Philippine Folk Dance

Tiklos (also called "pintakasi") is the Waray equivalent to the "bayanihan". Groups of people work for somebody without hoping for anything in return. They work odd jobs like clearing forests, digging the earth for wells, moving a nipa hut to a new location or even building a house! In all these for free. Of course grateful benefactors would offer drinks and food; but it is not always expected. The peasants cooperate for the social and economic progress of their community. The Tiklos is a native peasant dance of Leyte. Very early in the morning, the leader of the tiklos beats the tambora, a kind of drum made from a hollow trunk of a tree with a carabao hide head. Next comes sounds of the subing (bamboo flutes) and the guimbal-a small snare drum with a head of a parchment made from the skin of a wildcat. The peasants come out with grass hooks, bols and other garden tools and farm implements. Led by the band, they march together to work in the fields. During breaks the peasants enjoy themselves with tuba (a native wine) and the rest dance the tiklos accompanied by the subing (plawta), guimbal and tambora drums or when available, the "sista" played by the band. The Tiklos music is also played to call them back to work. Greek Folk Dances

A wonderful performance by the famous Dora Stratou Dance Group in Athens, Greece. Imagine yourself on a hill top theatre; The cool night breeze is on. It is dark all around except for the dim lights of the stage. The clatter of crickets break what is otherwise pitch silence. Suddenly, you hear the sweet notes of a Greek flute. Now a drummer has joined the music. Who are those emerging from the cave-like entrance?.... All eyes are now on the stage....

Twelve Tribes Community Street Folk Dances - Communal Life Messianic Sabbath Communities of Yahshua

Visit: www.TwelveTribes.com or Call 1-888-TWELVETRIBES to talk with someone who really cares about you. Twelve Tribes Community Communal Life Messianic Sabbath Communities of Yahshua. You probably know of Him as Jesus Christ. We prefer to call Him by His Hebrew name, Yahshua. It's a name rich with meaning. To us He is exactly what His name says He is Yahweh's Salvation — mighty and powerful to save us from our sins. By the way He lived, He proved to be the exact representation of divine nature — always full of love and mercy and compassion, but never compromising in His stand for the truth. And that's why we follow Him. We want to be just like Him. After all, it's only fair that someone would show the world what He's really like. He's probably the most misunderstood and misrepresented man who ever lived. We hope, through the things we've written in this section, to introduce you to the real Yahshua and His true message. We hope you'll fall in love with Him like we did. We used to be desperately lonely, even though most of us had a lot of friends. Some of us were successful in what we did, and some of us were failures beyond hope. We came from everywhere and we have done everything trying to make sense out of our lives. But no matter what we did, we were left feeling dirty inside. We were scarred deeply from the effects of mistrust and hurtful relationships. We strove for acceptance, money, and whatever else could give us comfort. Some of us had dreams of a better life ...
