Algonquin College. Exam week can be stressful on students. Inspired by the Christmas Food Court Flash Mob, Hallelujah Chorus, the Television Broadcasting students at Algonquin College wanted to showcase the new Algonquin Centre for Construction Excellence by lightening the mood with the help of the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir and Darth Vader. Thank you to ORYC Manager, Valerie Jerabek and Director, Kevin Reeves for agreeing to participate in this crazy idea. HAGERSTOWN, MD - The holidays are usually reserved for spreading cheer, but more than 100 church members and several hundred onlookers participated in a different type of surprise to mall patrons Saturday. Members of the St. Mark's Episcopal Church near Boonsboro, Maryland organized a Hallelujah Chorus Flash Mob Saturday in the food court of Hagerstown;s Valley Mall. At noon, all the participants who coordinated outfits to wear Christmas green and red, popped up to sing the Hallelujah chorus. "I was nervous at first, but once everyone started singing, it was really good and it was a very unique thing to do," says Madeline Clingan, a student who said she initially didn't want to participate. Clingan later said the event is something she will never forget. Even though the event was supposed to catch most shoppers off guard, many people came ready to photograph the spontaneous rendition that mimics similar events in major cities such as Philadelphia. "For clergy in the Christian tradition, it really makes you feel good that our message is getting out there," says Steven McCarty, a reverend at St. Andrews Episcopal church in Clear Spring. " It's more than just about the consumerism that we see in today's society, it's a spirit of love during this season," he says. The choirmaster at St. mark's Episcopal church on Lappans Road near Boonsboro organized the event, then enlisted help from other churches like St. Marks.

Students in the CFISD high schools in the PALS and other dance organizations teamed up to create a flash mob at the food court of the Katy, Texas Fairfield Outlet Mall March 29, 2012 at exactly 7:00pm. In total, the amount of students who showed up was over 700 people, all wearing bright orange. It was semi-expected from shoppers due to the bright colored T-shirts but in the end turned out to be a success. The main point the PALS group was trying to get across was to help with poverty, thus the shoes being left for children and families in poverty.

Another flash mob at Devonshire Mall in Windsor and this time it was for Bullying Awareness Week. About two hundred students from Catholic Central, Cardinal Carter and Holy Names joined forces against cyberbullying. They gathered in the Food Court of the mall around 1pm and proudly danced their message for all to see. They wore bright blue t-shirts bearing a unique design that showed three keyboard keys, "Ctrl", "Esc", "Del" with "Cyberbullying" underneath the three keys. It was the culmination of a week in which the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board held various events to help bring awareness to bullying. Bill Belsey is a Canadian educator and the person responsible for creating Bullying Awareness Week. He is the first person to use and define the term "cyberbullying".
