Consumers have continually been drawn to its balanced offerings of comfort, utility, space and capability, and the same should hold true for 2006. At first glance, the upgrades this year don't seem overly dramatic. The Explorer still looks like an Explorer, still seats five to seven people, still has V6 or V8 power (you were expecting a V12?) and still motors about with two- or four-wheel drive. And it still has some low-rent interior plastics, too. But the improvements to the ride quality are welcome, as are the new safety features. The Explorer has been the best-selling SUV for 15 straight years, and we foresee no reason why it shouldn't be 16 for 2006.

The 2011 Ford Explorer takes a huge evolutionary leap, transitioning from an old-school ladder-frame SUV to a modern, car-like crossover. I found it a willing partner for the suburban life, with the best 3rd-row stowing mechanism I could possibly have imagined, and decent fuel economy as well (nearly 20mpg observed, EPA rated 17/23). The chassis is rock-solid, and at high speed feels nearly as composed as some European luxury-performance utes I've recently tested. The 3.5L V6 makes 283hp and 252 lb.-ft. of torque, but is handicapped by a 6-speed "SelectShift" transmission that offers manual shift capability—-but only via a tiny rocker switch on the shift knob itself. It's a great start for Ford, with a few minor (and easily fixable) glitches. The NAV system for example is very comprehensive, but equally convoluted. Ford blown spark plug repair - Time Sert review Vehicle: 02 Ford Explorer V8 4.6L Many Ford engines from 1997 to 2008 with Triton heads may blow out a spark plug. Many companies have come out with a relatively inexpensive fix that allows the Head to remain on the engine, thus saving a lot of money in repairs. Although I have rebuilt engines in the past, I have never repaired this kind of damage to an engine. I wanted to record whether Time Sert's claims were as easy as they proclaimed. The answer for me was mostly Yes. The only criticism was that I had no objective idea how much counterboring I needed to do. With the engine that I had, a Lot of counterboring needed to be done and I thought I had gone too far at one point simply due to the amount of time spent with this operation. I have done a second repair and decided to only use a hand ratchet on the counterbore. It took two hours to counterbore alone. I recommend an air ratchet for this reason. Bottom line is that this works; It's relatively inexpensive; and I was overall happy with the product. As well, I can now replace more threads without buying anything more since it came with 5 inserts.
