Macgellan Freighter Container Ship Tour

TNT Express has taken delivery of its first Boeing 777 Freighter. This latest aircraft in the TNT family arrived during the weekend at TNT's European air hub in Liege, Belgium, after completing final flight and ground tests at Boeing's Everett factory, Washington State, USA. The "triple seven" Freighter flies farther than any other freighter. Its range of 4900 nautical miles (9070 km) at full payload allows better non stop intercontinental flights between, for instance, Shanghai and Belgium. With its payload of about 103 metric tons, it carries almost as much as a 747-400 Freighter, while burning less fuel, thus producing less carbon dioxide. TNT Express will operate the 777 between Asia and Europe in replacement of a 747 freighter.

After the short delay in delivery of the first new Boeing 747-8 Freighter, to Cargolux, the Luxembourg-based freight carrier put the 747-8F straight into service. Here you can watch the largest Boeing aircraft as it is put straight to work by Cargolux. The 747-8 Freighter is a world leader in air cargo capacity and Cargolux make sure they maximise its capacity with the first revenue flight of this new jumbo jet. The TNT 777 Frieghter was manufactured at Boeing's Everett factory, Washington State, USA, the world's largest building in volume. It was built in 49 days by thousands of workers, and includes 3 million parts provided by more than 500 suppliers. It took five days and over 150 gallons (570 litres) of paint to add the distinctive TNT colour to the 209 foot fuselage. The TNT 777 can accommodate 37 industry-standard pallets (2.5 mx 3.1 m, or 96 in x 125 in), and can fly 9070 km with a payload of 226000 lbs (103 metric tons).

As we get close to the 19th September hand-over of the first Boeing 747-8 Freighter to Cargolux we thought we would bring you a great time-warp movie showing how much work goes into just painting the Boeing 747-8 Freighter. We have also added a few interesting facts you can use next time you want to impress someone with your aviation knowledge! The Boeing 747-8 Freighter will be longer than the 747-400F by 5.6 m (18.3 ft) The 747-8 Freighter will have a maximum structural payload capability of 140 metric tonnes (154 tons). It will have a range of 8130 km (4390 nmi). Powered by 787-technology engines, the Boeing 747-8 Freighter will achieve the same environmental benefits as the 747-8 Intercontinental. The 747-8 Freighter will have nearly equivalent trip costs and 16 percent lower ton-mile costs than the 747-400, plus 16 percent more revenue cargo volume than its predecessor. The additional 120 cu m (4245 cu ft) of volume means the airplane can accommodate four additional main-deck pallets and three additional lower-hold pallets. Operating economics of the 747-8 Freighter will be significantly superior to the A380F. The 747-8F has an empty weight of 80 tonnes (88 tons) lighter than the Airbus A380F, resulting in a 24 percent lower fuel burn per ton, 21 percent lower trip costs and 23 percent lower ton-mile costs than the A380F.

Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT - First Taxi In 20 Years In 1986 the Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT ('Merchant Courier') was flown into Omaka Aerodrome (Blenheim, New Zealand) and retired. The aircraft engines were subsequently run on several occasions, but this has not occurred for over 20 years. Enter Alastair Marshall - ex RNZAF Engine Technician, now commercial pilot, and a piston engine enthusiast. Over the past few months, Al has been working on the two Bristol Hercules engines on the aircraft, with the goal of getting the old girl to come to life once more. The majority Hawkairs work involved hauling between Bronson Creeks gravel airstrip and Wrangell in support of the Snipe Mine.
